Abstract
【解決手段】黒色着色剤を含む第1着色剤、および黒色着色剤を含まず2つ以上の第2着色剤の混合物であり、該混合物が黒色着色剤と実質的に同じスペクトル応答である着色剤を含む黒色トナー組成物であり、損失弾性率が該混合物を含まない組成物より小さいトナー組成物であることを特徴とする。

Description
8.7% Nipex 35および1.45% PB 15.3の2Lの黒色EAトナー
黒色のポリエステルEAトナーを、2Lのベンチスケールで調製した(175gの乾燥理論トナー)。2つのアモルファスエマルジョン(97gのポリエステルエマルジョンA(Mw=86,000、Tg開始点=56℃、35%の固体)および101gのポリエステルエマルジョンB(Mw=19,400、Tg開始点=60℃、35%の固体)、34gの結晶性ポリエステルエマルジョンC(Mw=23,300、Mn=10,500、Tm=71℃、35%の固体)、5.06gの界面活性剤(The Dow Chemical Companyから一般的に入手可能なDOWFAX(登録商標))、51gのワックス(The International Group,Inc.(IGI)から市販されている)、96gの黒色顔料(Nipex 35)および16gのシアン顔料(Pigment Blue 15:3分散系)からなる)を混合した後、0.3M 硝酸を使用してpHを4.2に調整した。生じたスラリーを、36.1gのDI水と混合された3.14g 硫酸アルミニウム(凝固剤)を加えながら、約3000から約4000rpmで合計5分間、均質化した。続いてスラリーを2LのBuchiリアクターへ移し、460rpmで混合するよう設定した。スラリーを、42℃のバッチ温度で凝集した。凝集中、コア中と同じアモルファスエマルジョンから構成されるシェル形成混合物(トナーの34wt%)を、硝酸により3.3にpH調整してからバッチに加え、バッチにより目標とする粒子径を達成できるようにした。目標とする粒子径が達成されれば、凝集をフリーズするために、水酸化ナトリウム(NaOH)およびEDTAにより、pHを7.8に調整した。合体のために、リアクター温度(Tr)を85℃に上げてプロセスを続け、酢酸ナトリウム/酢酸バッファ(pH 5.7)を用いてpHを6.5に調整した。約2時間後、粒子が0.956を超える真円度を達成すると、氷で急冷した。最終のトナー粒子径、GSDvおよびGSDnはそれぞれ5.25/1.21/1.18であった。微細なもの(サイズが約1.3から約3μmの粒子)の割合、粗いもの(サイズが16μmを超える粒子)の割合および真円度はそれぞれ0.57%、0.15%および0.965であった。トナーを「高黒色トナー」として以下で識別する。
6% Nipex 35ならびに4.5% Pigment Orange 34、4.2% Pigment Blue 15.3および0.81% Pigment Violet 23の2Lの黒色EAトナー
黒色のポリエステルEAトナーを、2Lのベンチスケールで調製した(180gの乾燥理論トナー)。2つのアモルファスエマルジョン(88.5gのポリエステルエマルジョンA(Mw=86,000、Tg開始点=56℃、35%の固体)および86gのポリエステルエマルジョンB(Mw=19,400、Tg開始点=60℃、35%の固体)、36gの結晶性エマルジョンC(Mw=23,300、Mn=10,500、Tm=71℃、35%の固体)、2.4gの界面活性剤(DOWFAX)、55gのワックス(IGI)、68gの黒色顔料(Nipex 35、17%の固体)、35gのPigment Orange 34分散系(18%の固体)、6.2gのPigment Violet 23分散系(25.55%の固体)、450gのDI水および65gのシアン顔料(Pigment Blue 15:3分散系、18%の固体)からなる)を混合した後、0.3M 硝酸を使用してpHを4.2に調整した。続いてスラリーを、86gのDIと混合された凝固剤(3.23g 硫酸アルミニウム)に加えながら、3000から4000rpmで合計5分間、均質化した。続いてスラリーを2LのBuchiへ移し、混合を460rpmに設定した。続いてスラリーを、42℃のバッチ温度で凝集した。凝集中、コア中と同じアモルファスエマルジョンから構成されるシェル(トナーの34重量%)を、硝酸により3.3にpH調整し、バッチに加えた。目標とする粒子径になると、水酸化ナトリウム(NaOH)およびEDTAを用いて、混合物のpHを7.8に調整した。リアクター温度(Tr)を85℃に上げ、酢酸ナトリウム/酢酸バッファ(pH 5.7)を用いてpHを6.5に調整した。約2時間後、粒子が0.965を超える真円度を達成すると、氷で急冷した。最終の粒子径、GSDvおよびGSDnはそれぞれ5.31/1.19/1.21であった。微細なもの(1.3から3μm)の割合、粗いもの(16μm超)の割合および真円度はそれぞれ0.78%、0.11%および0.973であった。トナーを「実験トナー」として以下で識別する。
名目上の濃度の黒色着色剤を有するコントロールトナー
実施例1と本質的に同じ試薬を含み、かつ実施例1と同じプロセスを用いているが、多くの市販の黒色トナーで見られるような約6%の黒色顔料(Nipex 35)を含むコントロールトナーを製造した(以下で「低黒色トナー」として識別する)。
トナーを標準的な添加剤と混合し、ストレスケースについてAゾーンで試験した。また、ペアレント電荷をBゾーンで測定した。最後に、誘電損失をCゾーンで測定した。
上記に基づいて、以下の観察がなされた:
顔料過剰低TMAトナー中のカーボンブラックの一部を着色顔料の混合物と置換すると、全て黒色の着色剤(Nipex 35等)を高い(例えば、1.45X)顔料ローディングで使用する場合と比較して、全体の電荷、誘電損失、転写および画質が改善する;
光沢は、非黒色着色剤を有する実験トナーにおいて、高い顔料ローディングであっても、不変のままである;そして
同じ光反射密度に達するのに印刷で必要とされるトナー量は少なくなる、というものである。
Claims (10)
- 第1アモルファス樹脂、任意で第2アモルファス樹脂、任意で結晶性樹脂、任意で界面活性剤、任意でワックス、必要に応じてシェル、第1着色剤、および2つ以上の第2着色剤の混合物を含む黒色トナー組成物であって、誘電損失が、前記混合物のない前記トナー組成物よりも小さい、トナー組成物。
- 前記第1着色剤は、黒色着色剤を含む、請求項1に記載のトナー組成物。
- 前記混合物は、黒色着色剤を含まない、請求項1に記載のトナー組成物。
- 前記混合物は、約400から約700nmの範囲について、黒色着色剤と実質的に同じスペクトル応答を含む、請求項2に記載のトナー組成物。
- 前記混合物は、約400から約700nmのスペクトル応答範囲について、約R=0.02以下の反射率を含む、請求項2に記載のトナー組成物。
- 前記混合物の第1着色剤が、少なくとも約400から約540nmの範囲について吸収し、前記混合物の第2着色剤が、少なくとも約540から約600nmの範囲について吸収し、前記混合物の第3着色剤が、少なくとも約600から約700nmの範囲について吸収する、請求項2に記載のトナー組成物。
- 前記混合物は、Pigment Orange、Pigment BlueおよびPigment Violetを含む、請求項2に記載のトナー組成物。
- 着色剤の総量が、約6重量%を超える、請求項1に記載のトナー組成物。
- Pigment Blueは約3から4.2%存在し、Pigment Orangeは約3から4.5%存在し、Pigment Violetは0.1から約0.81%存在する、請求項7に記載のトナー組成物。
- 誘電損失が40×10−3未満である、請求項1に記載のトナー組成物。
