Abstract
【解決手段】摩擦攪拌加工装置1は、被加工材W1,W2を摩擦攪拌加工するためのツール20と、ツール20を保持し且つ回転させながら被加工材W1,W2に押し付けて加工方向に相対移動可能な加工ヘッド7と、被加工材W1,W2を保持する支持テーブル3と、支持テーブル3を支持するとともに支持テーブル3をツール20側へ付勢するためのシリンダ装置6と、シリンダ装置6の付勢力を一定に保つように制御することによりツール20が被加工材W1,W2を押し付ける加圧力を一定に保持させる荷重制御手段61とを備える。また、摩擦攪拌加工装置1は、ツール20を被加工材W1,W2に対して予め設定された高さ位置に設定するためのツール高さ設定手段56を備える。

Description
ショルダ面にプローブを突設して金属材料からなる被加工材を摩擦攪拌加工するためのツールと、
ツールを保持し、且つ、回転させながら被加工材に押し付けて加工方向に相対移動可能な加工ヘッドと、
被加工材を保持する支持テーブルとを備える摩擦攪拌加工装置であって、
前記支持テーブルを支持するとともに当該支持テーブルをツール側へ付勢するためのシリンダ装置と、
前記シリンダ装置の付勢力を一定に保つように制御することにより前記ツールが前記被加工材を押し付ける加圧力を一定に保持させる荷重制御手段とを備える。
これにより、摩擦攪拌加工時に、まずツールを被加工材へ当接させるときに前記ツール高さ設定手段によりツールと被加工材との高さ位置関係が適正範囲に設定されるようにツール高さを位置制御することができる。従って、ツールと被加工材との高さ位置関係が適正範囲に位置制御された状態を、前記シリンダ装置で支持テーブルを一定の付勢力でもってツール側へ付勢して荷重制御することにより摩擦攪拌加工中も一定に保持することができる。
これにより、シリンダ装置を加工方向に対してバランスさせるように配置したことにより、被加工材の加工距離が長くなったり加工位置が離れている等の場合でも、ツールの被加工材への加圧力が加工方向に沿ってバラつくことがない。従って、被加工材の加工距離が長くなっても全長にわたってツールと被加工材との高さ位置関係を適正範囲に保ち続けることができ、また加工位置が遠く離れていても各加工位置でのツールと被加工材との高さ位置関係を適正範囲に保つことができる。
ツールを回転させながら金属材料からなる被加工材に対して押し付けて発生する摩擦熱により被加工材を軟化させて加工する摩擦攪拌加工方法であって、
摩擦攪拌加工時に、まずツールを被加工材に対して予め設定された高さ位置に設定し、その後は、前記被加工材を保持する支持テーブルを支持するとともに当該支持テーブルをツール側へ付勢するためのシリンダ装置の付勢力を一定に保つように制御することにより前記ツールが前記被加工材を押し付ける加圧力を一定に保持させるようにする。
この摩擦攪拌加工方法によれば、前記摩擦攪拌加工装置と同様の作用が発揮される。
図1、図2、図3を参照して、摩擦攪拌接合装置1は、摩擦攪拌加工用のツール20を取り付けた加工機構2と、ワークW1,W2を保持する支持テーブル3と、加工機構2の動作を制御する制御装置5と、支持テーブル3の下面に取り付けた空気圧シリンダ(シリンダ装置)6とを備える。

Claims (4)
- ショルダ面にプローブを突設して金属材料からなる被加工材を摩擦攪拌加工するためのツールと、
ツールを保持し、且つ、回転させながら被加工材に押し付けて加工方向に相対移動可能な加工ヘッドと、
被加工材を保持する支持テーブルとを備える摩擦攪拌加工装置であって、
前記支持テーブルを支持するとともに当該支持テーブルをツール側へ付勢するためのシリンダ装置と、
前記シリンダ装置の付勢力を一定に保つように制御することにより前記ツールが前記被加工材を押し付ける加圧力を一定に保持させる荷重制御手段とを備える摩擦攪拌加工装置。 - 請求項1に記載の摩擦攪拌加工装置において、
前記ツールを前記被加工材に対して予め設定された高さ位置に設定するためのツール高さ設定手段を備える摩擦攪拌加工装置。 - 請求項1又は2に記載の摩擦攪拌加工装置において、
前記シリンダ装置は、前記支持テーブルの被加工材の加工方向に対してバランスさせるように配設されている摩擦攪拌加工装置。 - ツールを回転させながら金属材料からなる被加工材に対して押し付けて発生する摩擦熱により被加工材を軟化させて加工する摩擦攪拌加工方法であって、
摩擦攪拌加工時に、まずツールを被加工材に対して予め設定された高さ位置に設定し、その後は、前記被加工材を保持する支持テーブルを支持するとともに当該支持テーブルをツール側へ付勢するためのシリンダ装置の付勢力を一定に保つように制御することにより前記ツールが前記被加工材を押し付ける加圧力を一定に保持させる摩擦攪拌加工方法。
