Claims (15)
- 複数の画素を有するエレクトロウェッティング式表示デバイスを作製する方法であって、前記画素の各々が、表示区域を囲む複数の壁によって画定され、前記複数の画素が、支持板の第1の領域を覆っており、
当該方法が、
少なくとも前記第1の領域を覆う疎水性層を設けるステップと、
実質的に前記表示区域の外側で第2の領域を覆う前記疎水性層の疎水性を低下させるステップと、
前記第1の領域を覆う前記疎水性層上に前記壁を形成するステップと
を含む方法。 - 前記第2の領域が前記第1の領域の外側にある、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 前記第2の領域が、部分的に前記第1の領域の外側にあり、部分的に前記第1の領域の内側にある、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 前記第2の領域が前記第1の領域の内側にある、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 前記第2の領域が、前記表示区域の開始領域を形成する、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 前記疎水性を低下させる前記ステップが、リアクティブイオンエッチング、プラズマ処理、UVオゾン処理、又は化学処理を含む、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 前記疎水性層への前記壁材料の付着力を強化するために接着促進剤を堆積するステップを含む、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 前記第2の領域が、少なくとも部分的に前記第1の領域の内側に存在して実質的に前記壁の広さを有し、前記第2の領域の外側にある前記第1の領域の部分が、前記疎水性層の前記疎水性が低下するのを防止するパターン層で覆われる、請求項6に記載の方法。
- 前記パターン層がフォトリソグラフィプロセスを用いて作製される、請求項8に記載の方法。
- 前記壁が、前記疎水性層上に壁層を堆積することにより形成される、請求項1〜9のいずれか一項に記載の方法。
- 前記壁層が、マスクを通して壁層材料を堆積することにより、又は前記疎水性層に対するフォトリソグラフィプロセスによりパターニングされる、請求項10に記載の方法。
- 前記第2の領域が前記表示区域を囲み、前記第2の領域上に前記壁を形成する前記ステップが、前記壁材料の湿式処理を含み、前記壁材料が、与えられた後に、自発的にそれ自体を前記第2の領域上に位置決めする、請求項1に記載の方法。
- それぞれが表示区域を囲む複数の壁によって画定される複数の画素を有するエレクトロウェッティング式表示デバイスであって、
疎水性を有する疎水性層によって覆われた支持板を含み、前記壁が、前記疎水性層上に配置されたパターン付き壁層の一部分であり、前記壁層が配置される領域の前記疎水性が、高い値と低い値の間で変化する、エレクトロウェッティング式表示デバイス。 - 前記複数の画素が、支持板の第1の領域を覆い、前記疎水性層の前記疎水性が、前記第1の領域の外側の前記支持板の第2の領域で低い値を有する、請求項13に記載のエレクトロウェッティング式表示デバイス。
- それぞれが表示区域を囲む複数の壁によって画定される複数の画素を有するエレクトロウェッティング式表示デバイスであって、
疎水性を有する疎水性層によって覆われた支持板を含み、前記壁が、前記疎水性層上に配置されたパターン付き壁層の一部分であり、前記表示区域が開始領域を含み、前記疎水性が、前記開始領域の外側の前記表示区域の領域では高い値を有し、前記開始領域と前記表示区域の間の領域とでは低い値を有する、エレクトロウェッティング式表示デバイス。
