Claims (19)
- カラー電気光学ディスプレイを生成するためのプロセスであって、
電気光学層(106)と光透過性導電層(104)とを含む電気光学サブアセンブリ(100;200;300;402)を提供することと、
複数の電極を含むバックプレーン(404、408)に該電気光学サブアセンブリ(100;200;300;402)を積層することであって、該電気光学層(106)は、該バックプレーン(404、408)と該導電層(104)との間に配置される、ことと、
該導電層(104)の上にカラーフィルタアレイを配置し、該カラーフィルタアレイを該バックプレーン(404、408)の電極と整合させることにより、該カラー電気光学ディスプレイを形成することと
を含み、該電気光学サブアセンブリ(100;200;300;402)の該バックプレーン(404、408)への積層後、但し、該導電層(104)の上への該カラーフィルタアレイの配置前に、流動性材料が、該導電層(106)の上に配置されることを特徴とする、プロセス。 - 前記電気光学サブアセンブリ(402)は、前記導電層(104)と、前記電気光学層(106)と、該導電層(104)から該電気光学層(106)の反対側に配置された接着剤層(108)とを含むフロントプレーン積層(100)の形態を有し、該積層は、該接着剤層(108)を前記バックプレーン(404、408)と接触させることによって達成される、請求項1に記載のプロセス。
- 前記フロントプレーン積層(100)は、前記電気光学層(106)から遠い方の前記接着剤層(108)の表面を被覆する離型シート(110)をさらに備え、該離型シート(110)は、該フロントプレーン積層(100)の前記バックプレーン(404,408)への積層前に除去される、請求項2に記載のプロセス。
- 前記電気光学サブアセンブリ(402)は、前記導電層(104)、第1の接着剤層(208)、前記電気光学層(106)、および第2の接着剤層(108)をこの順番で含む反転フロントプレーン積層(200)の形態を有し、該積層は、該第2の接着剤層(108)を前記バックプレーン(404、408)と接触させることによって達成される、請求項1に記載のプロセス。
- 前記反転フロントプレーン積層(200)は、前記電気光学層(106)から遠い方のの前記第2の接着剤層(108)の表面を被覆する離型シート(110)をさらに備え、該離型シート(110)は、該反転フロントプレーン積層(200)の前記バックプレーン(404、408)への積層前に除去される、請求項4に記載のプロセス。
- 前記電気光学サブアセンブリ(100;200;300;402)は、前記電気光学層(106)から前記導電層(104)の反対側に配置されたフロント基板(102)をさらに備え、該フロント基板(102)は、該導電層(104)に機械的支持および保護を提供する、請求項1に記載のプロセス。
- 前記電気光学サブアセンブリ(300)は、前記電気光学層(106)から前記導電層(104)の反対側に配置されたマスキングフィルム(312)をさらに備え、該マスキングフィルム(312)は、前記カラーフィルタアレイが該マスキングフィルム(312)に積層される前に、該サブアセンブリ(300)から除去される、請求項1に記載のプロセス。
- 前記導電層(104)の上への前記流動性材料および前記カラーフィルタアレイの配置は、該導電層(104)の上に複数のスペーサを配置することと、該複数のスペーサ上に該カラーフィルタアレイを配置することと、該導電層(104)と該カラーフィルタアレイとの間に硬化性ポリマーを導入することと、該硬化性ポリマーを硬化させることとによって達成される、請求項1に記載のプロセス。
- 前記電気光学層の周縁の周囲に硬化性エッジシールポリマーを配置するが、該エッジシールポリマー内に複数の空隙を残すことと、該エッジシールポリマーを硬化させ、エッジシールを形成することであって、該エッジシールは、該エッジシールを通って延在する複数の開口を有する、ことと、該複数の開口のうちの少なくとも1つに真空を印加する一方で、少なくとも1つの他の開口を該硬化性ポリマーの供給源に接続し、それによって、前記導電層(104)と前記カラーフィルタアレイとの間の該硬化性ポリマーを吸引することとをさらに含む、請求項8に記載のプロセス。
- 前記流動性材料は、前記導電層(104)上に分注される硬化性ポリマーであって、前記カラーフィルタアレイが、該硬化性ポリマーの上に配置され、整合された後、該硬化性ポリマーは硬化され、該カラーフィルタアレイを該導電層(104)に固着させる、請求項1に記載のプロセス。
- 前記カラーフィルタアレイが、前記硬化性ポリマー上に配置され、整合された後、該硬化性ポリマーの複数の離散部分が硬化され、該硬化性ポリマーは、該硬化性ポリマーから気泡を除去するように処理され、硬化されていない該ポリマーの残りの部分が最終ディスプレイを生成するために硬化される、請求項10に記載のプロセス。
- 前記流動性材料は、前記最終ディスプレイ内で変化しないままである非硬化性材料である、請求項1に記載のプロセス。
- 前記非硬化性材料は、グリースである、請求項12に記載のプロセス。
- 前記グリースは、シリコーングリースである、請求項13に記載のプロセス。
- 前記カラーフィルタアレイの整合後、前記電気光学層(106)と前記カラーフィルタアレイとの周縁の周囲に硬化性ポリマーを分注することと、該ポリマーを硬化させ、該電気光学層(106)と該カラーフィルタアレイとを互に固着させるエッジシールを形成することとをさらに含む、請求項12に記載のプロセス。
- 前記電気光学材料は、回転2色部材またはエレクトロクロミック材料を含む、請求項1に記載のプロセス。
- 前記電気光学材料は、複数の荷電粒子を含む電気泳動材料を含み、該複数の荷電粒子は、流体中に配置され、かつ、電場の影響下で該流体を通って移動することが可能である、請求項1に記載のプロセス。
- 前記流体は、ガス状である、請求項17に記載のプロセス。
- 複数の電極を含むバックプレーン(404、408)と、
電気光学層(106)と、
光透過性導電層(104)と、
非硬化性の流動性材料の層と、
カラーフィルタアレイと
をこの順番で含む電気光学ディスプレイ。
