また、請求項2にかかる発明としては、前記カラーフィルター層を形成する工程の後に、該カラーフィルター層上に保護フィルムを積層する工程を備えることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の電気泳動表示装置の製造方法とした。
また、請求項3にかかる発明としては、前記透明基材の厚さが10μm以上100μm以下の範囲内であることを特徴とする請求項1または2に記載の電気泳動表示装置の製造方法とした。
また、請求項4にかかる発明としては、画素電極を備える基板と、該画素電極から順に、電気移動粒子を分散媒中に分散した分散液を封入したマイクロカプセルをバインダー樹脂で固定した電気泳動表示層、透明電極層と、透明基材と、前記透明基材の前記透明電極層が配置された表面と対向した表面上にカラーフィルター層を順に備え、且つ、
前記カラーフィルター層が、前記透明基材の表面全面に形成された受容層中にインキの溶媒を吸収させた構成であり、
該画素電極を備える基板が電気泳動表示層が配置されていない領域を備えており、前記画素電極を備える基板が前記マイクロカプセルが配置されていない領域において画素位置合わせ用の模様が描画されている
ことを特徴とする電気泳動表示装置とした。
また、請求項5にかかる発明としては、前記カラーフィルター層上に、さらに保護フィルムを備える請求項4に記載の電気泳動表示装置とした。
また、請求項6にかかる発明としては、前記透明基材の厚さが10μm以上100μm以下の範囲内であることを特徴とする請求項4または5に記載の電気泳動表示装置とした。
マイクロカプセル内に封入される電気極性の異なる2種類の粒子としては、黒色粒子と白色粒子の組み合わせをあげることができる。マイクロカプセルは、篩い分け法や比重分離法などにより精製されていて、平均粒径が30〜100μmであるものを用いることが好ましい。また、マイクロカプセルカプセルの平均粒径に対し前後10μm以内の粒径を有するマイクロカプセルの割合は少なくとも50%を超えることが好ましい。
ポリエチレン樹脂で表面を被覆した平均粒径3μmの酸化チタン粉末(白色粒子)と、アルキルトリメチルアンモニウムクロライドで表面処理した平均粒径4μmのカーボンブラック粉末(黒色粒子)をテトラクロロエチレンに分散し、分散液を得た。この場合、白色粒子が負に帯電し、黒色粒子が正に帯電する。
ポリエチレン樹脂で表面を被覆した平均粒径3μmの酸化チタン粉末(白色粒子)と、アルキルトリメチルアンモニウムクロライドで表面処理した平均粒径4μmのカーボンブラック粉末(黒色粒子)をテトラクロロエチレンに分散し、分散液を得た。この場合、白色粒子が負に帯電し、黒色粒子が正に帯電する。

Claims (6)
- 画素電極を備える基板と、透明基材上に該透明基材側から順に透明電極層および電気泳動粒子を分散媒中に分散した分散液を封入したマイクロカプセルをバインダー樹脂で固定した電気泳動表示層を順に備える積層フィルムの、前記基板の画素電極と前記積層フィルムの電気泳動表示層を貼りあわせる工程と、
該積層フィルムの基材表面に前記画素電極に対応したカラーフィルター層を形成する工程とを備え、かつ、
前記積層フィルムの基材表面にカラーフィルター層を形成する工程が、前記積層フィルムの基材表面全面に受容層を形成し、インクジェット印刷法により前記受容層にインキを吐出し、前記受容層にインキの溶媒を吸収させることによりおこなわれ、
該画素電極を備える基板が電気泳動表示層が配置されていない領域を備えており、前記画素電極を備える基板が前記電気泳動表示層が配置されていない領域において画素位置合わせ用の模様が描画されており、前記カラーフィルター層を形成する工程にあって該画素位置合わせ用の模様によりカラーフィルター層が形成される
ことを特徴とする電気泳動表示装置の製造方法。 - 前記カラーフィルター層を形成する工程の後に、該カラーフィルター層上に保護フィルムを積層する工程を備えることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の電気泳動表示装置の製造方法。
- 前記透明基材の厚さが10μm以上100μm以下の範囲内であることを特徴とする請求項1または2に記載の電気泳動表示装置の製造方法。
- 画素電極を備える基板と、該画素電極から順に、電気移動粒子を分散媒中に分散した分散液を封入したマイクロカプセルをバインダー樹脂で固定した電気泳動表示層、透明電極層と、透明基材と、前記透明基材の前記透明電極層が配置された表面と対向した表面上にカラーフィルター層を順に備え、且つ、
前記カラーフィルター層が、前記透明基材の表面全面に形成された受容層中にインキの溶媒を吸収させた構成であり、
該画素電極を備える基板が電気泳動表示層が配置されていない領域を備えており、前記画素電極を備える基板が前記マイクロカプセルが配置されていない領域において画素位置合わせ用の模様が描画されている
ことを特徴とする電気泳動表示装置。 - 前記カラーフィルター層上に、さらに保護フィルムを備える請求項4に記載の電気泳動表示装置。
- 前記透明基材の厚さが10μm以上100μm以下の範囲内であることを特徴とする請求項4または5に記載の電気泳動表示装置。
