Claims (10)

  1. 流体動力による電力生成システムであって、
    テザーシステムに連結されるフレームと、
    フレームに取り付けられるとともに、流動流体から揚力を発生させることにより電力生成システムを流動流体中に維持する少なくとも1つの電力生成モジュールとを備え、
    少なくとも1つの電力生成モジュールは、
    フレームに取り付けられる保持構造と、
    回転子軸を有し、保持構造内に配置されるとともに保持構造に対して回転する回転構造と、
    複数のブレードを有するロータであって、複数のブレードは、回転子軸に取り付けられるとともに、流動流体によって回転されることにより、回転子軸および回転構造を保持構造に対して回転させるトルクを回転子軸に生じさせる、ロータと、
    保持構造に取り付けられた複数の発電機であって、回転構造に係合されて、電力を生成するためにロータからのトルクを発電機に伝達する駆動軸と、駆動軸を回転構造との係合から解除する係合解除機構とをそれぞれが備える複数の発電機と、を備える、電力生成システム。
  2. 複数の発電機は、待機モード、動作モードおよび動作不能分離モードのうちいずれかのモードに選択的にあって、
    動作モードにある発電機、待機モードにある発電機および動作不能分離モードにある発電機のそれぞれに対して、所望の出力電圧が付与される、請求項1に記載のシステム。
  3. 回転構造は、回転子軸に連結され回転子軸とともに回転する駆動ギアを備え、
    複数の発電機は、保持構造上において、駆動ギアの周囲に放射状に配置され、それぞれの発電機の駆動軸は、駆動ギアに係合するギアを有する、請求項1に記載のシステム。
  4. 駆動ギアは、回転構造の周縁部沿いに円周状に配置され、
    それぞれの駆動軸のギアが駆動ギアと係合した状態において、それぞれの発電機の駆動軸が回転子軸と略平行になるように、発電機は保持構造に取り付けられる、請求項3に記載のシステム。
  5. 駆動ギアは、回転子軸に垂直な平面内に配置されるとともに、回転構造の外周にある第1の面および対向する第2の面を有し、
    複数の発電機は、回転構造の外周に放射状に取り付けられた対となる発電機を備え、
    発電機の各対における第1の発電機は、駆動ギアの第1の面に係合する、回転子軸に垂直な駆動軸を備え、
    発電機の各対における第2の発電機は、第1の発電機の駆動軸のギアが駆動ギアの第1の面と係合する場所と対向する位置にて駆動ギアの第2の面と係合する、回転子軸に垂直な駆動軸を備え、
    駆動ギアが揺れたときにも、発電機の駆動軸がその間に挟まれた駆動ギアとの係合を維持するように、発電機の各対は駆動ギアの面に対して垂直に移動する、請求項3に記載のシステム。
  6. 電力生成システムを操作する方法であって、
    地上のステーションからテザーを介して、保持構造に取り付けられた複数のモータ/発電機へ電力を供給することにより、モータ/発電機の駆動軸を駆動させて回転子軸にトルクを発生させることで回転子軸を保持構造に対して回転させるとともに、回転子軸に連結されたロータを回転させることで、電力生成システムを空気流内の動作位置に飛行させるための揚力を発生させる工程と、
    電力生成システムが動作位置に到達すると、モータ/発電機への電力の供給を停止する工程と、
    空気流を用いてロータを回転させることにより、電力生成システムを空気流中にて維持するための揚力を発生させるとともに、回転子軸にトルクを発生させて回転子軸を回転させることで、ロータからのトルクを駆動軸を介してモータ/発電機へ伝達し、テザーを介して地上へ伝達する電力を発生させる工程と、
    それぞれの発電機に関連する係合解除機構を用いて、複数の発電機のうち選択された発電機について、駆動軸と回転子軸との係合を解除する工程と、を含む方法。
  7. モータ/発電機による電力の生成を中止する工程と、
    モータ/発電機へ電力を供給することにより、モータ/発電機の駆動軸を駆動させて回転子軸にトルクを発生させることで、回転子軸を保持構造に対して回転させ、回転子軸に連結されたロータを回転させることで、揚力を発生させて、空気流中にある発電機システムを地上へ飛行させる工程とを含む、請求項6に記載の方法。
  8. それぞれのモータ/発電機において、100−1000Vの範囲の電力を生成する工程を含む、請求項6に記載の方法。
  9. 電力を生成しているモータ/発電機を内部接続することにより、モータ/発電機をあわせて少なくとも15000Vの電力を生成する、請求項8に記載の方法。
  10. モータ/発電機が電力を受け取るか、供給するかに基づいて、モータ/発電機と、高電力、低RPM、高トルクの装置および高電力、高RPM、低トルクの装置とを交換する、請求項6に記載の方法。
