Abstract
Description
・コーティングが、その重量を基準にして、重量百分率で95%超のシリカを含む;
・シリカが親水性である;
・コーティングの重量が、基材粒子の重量の0.01%超、0.1%超および/または2%未満、0.75%未満、もしくは実に0.3%未満である;
・コーティングが、上記基材粒子の表面の実質的に全てを被覆する;
・コーティングが、クラックもフレークも有さない;
・コーティングが、基材粒子の表面と、上記コーティングおよび上記表面を分離する中間層を有さずに、接触している;
・基材粒子が、その重量を基準にして、重量百分率で少なくとも1%のジルコニア、マグネシア、またはジルコニアとマグネシアとの混合物を含む;
・基材粒子が、重量百分率で、全体で100%である、以下の化学分析:
Al2O3: 45〜65%
ZrO2+HfO2: 35〜50%

1)特に、その重量を基準にして重量百分率で40%超のアルミナを含む溶融基材粒子を得るまたは製造するステップ;
2)上記基材粒子を、好ましくは水性の、シリカを含有する懸濁液によって少なくとも部分的にコーティングするステップ;
3)場合により、上記懸濁液によって湿らせた基材粒子を乾燥させて、シリカをベースとするコーティングを形成するステップ
を含む方法も提供する。
・ステップ2)の前に、溶融基材粒子を、特に、600℃超、もしくは実に800℃超、もしくは実に1000℃超、および/または1550℃未満、もしくは実に1350℃未満、もしくは実に1250℃未満の温度で実施される「前」処理と称される加熱処理ステップに付す。前加熱処理の継続時間は、例えば、30分超、もしくは実に1時間超、もしくは3時間超、および/または10時間未満であってよい。代替的には、溶融基材粒子を、ステップ2)の前に、いずれの加熱処理ステップにも付さなくてよい;
・ステップ2)において、基材粒子を、ある量の懸濁液、すなわち、基材粒子100g当たり0.5g(グラム)超、0.75g超、もしくは実に1.0g超、および/または5g未満、4g未満、3g未満、もしくは実に2g未満の懸濁液と混合する。シリカ懸濁液は、25%未満、または実に10%未満、または実に5%未満のシリカ濃度を有していてよい;
・場合によるステップ3)の後に、上記方法は、加熱処理ステップ4)を含み、上記加熱処理を、100℃超、200℃超、300℃超、および/または1550℃未満、1500℃未満、1350℃未満、1000℃未満、もしくは実に500℃未満、もしくは450℃未満の温度で実施する。上記加熱処理を、30分超、1時間超、および/または24時間未満もしくは10時間未満の期間にわたって実施する;
・溶融基材粒子を、ステップ2)およびステップ3)またはステップ4)の間のいずれの中間ステップにも付さない;
・上記方法は、ステップ3)または、適切な場合にはステップ4)の終わりに得られる被コーティング粒子が本発明に従うように適合される。
明確のために、用語「被コーティング粒子」は、溶融材料の「基材粒子」および前記基材粒子を少なくとも部分的に被覆するシリカ含有コーティングを含む粒子を表すのに用いられる。
基材粒子は、種々の組成を有していてよい;特にαアルミナ、アルミナ−ジルコニアまたはアルミナ−マグネシアによって構成されていてよいが、少なくとも40重量%のアルミナを含むことを条件とする。
Al2O3: 45〜65%
ZrO2+HfO2: 35〜50%
他: 0〜12.0%。
Al2O3: 65〜80%
ZrO2+HfO2:15〜30%
他: 0〜12.0%。
Al2O3: 92.0〜98.5%
MgO: 1.5〜6.5%
他: <2.0%。
1)溶融基材粒子を得るまたは製造するステップ;
2)上記基材粒子を、シリカ含有懸濁液によって少なくとも部分的にコーティングするステップ;
3)場合により、懸濁液によって湿らせた基材粒子を乾燥させるステップ;
4)場合による加熱処理ステップ
を含む方法も提供する。
a)出発物質を混合するステップ;
b)上記混合出発物質を溶融材料が得られるまで従来的に電気炉において溶融するステップ;
c)上記溶融材料を、固体塊が得られるまで、好ましくは、3分未満で完全に固化するようにクエンチすることによって冷却するステップ;
d)上記固体塊を破砕して、溶融基材粒子、および上記基材粒子の場合による粒径分類を得るステップ
を含む方法を用いて製造することができる。
・0.3%未満のソーダ含量を有する部分的に焼成されたBayer(登録商標)アルミナ;
・98%超のジルコニア+ハフニウム含量を有するジルコニア粉末;
・オイルコークス;
・アルミニウム金属チップ。
テストAは、鋼製ミルボウルにおいて圧力をかけた後に所与の粒径のブラケットに残存する粒子画分を測定することを対象とした。このテストは、粒子の力学的機械的強度を測定することを可能にした。
1.ボウルを圧縮空気でクリーニングするステップ;
2.テスト生成物の粒径のブラケットの重さが25gである試料をミルボウルの壁とパックとの間に導入するステップ。Sodemiミルを名目上の速度(1400rpm)で4秒間作動させる。次いで、破砕した生成物を、ブラシ(50番)を用いてミルボウルから除去し、粒径分布を分析する。次いで、生成物を、以下のスクリーンTiを用いて、ROTAP(登録商標)篩の直径70mmの一連のスクリーンにおいて3分間篩にかける:
テストBは、典型的な有機結合剤に結合するテスト粒子の混合物によって構成される棒の破壊係数、MORを測定することにあり、ここで、組成が、研磨材ホイールの挙動をシミュレートすることができる。100×25×10mmの寸法を有する上記棒のMORを、以下の式を用いて3点曲げによって評価した:
・MOR(メガパスカル)=(3FL)/(2e2l)、式中
・F:力(N);
・L:下側ローラの軸間分離(mm);
・e:棒の厚さ(mm);
・l:棒の幅(mm)

Claims (20)
- 親水性シリカを含むコーティングによって少なくとも部分的に被覆された溶融基材粒子を含む被コーティング粒子であって、前記基材粒子がその重量を基準にして、重量百分率で40%超のアルミナを含む、被コーティング粒子。
- コーティングが、水性シリカの懸濁液から得られる、請求項1に記載の被コーティング粒子。
- コーティングが、コーティングの重量を基準にして、重量百分率で95%超のシリカを含む、請求項1または2に記載の被コーティング粒子。
- コーティングの重量が、基材粒子の重量の0.01%超かつ2%未満である、請求項1から3のいずれか一項に記載の被コーティング粒子。
- コーティングの重量が、基材粒子の重量の0.1%超かつ0.75%未満である、請求項4に記載の被コーティング粒子。
- コーティングの重量が、基材粒子の重量の0.3%未満である、請求項1から5のいずれか一項に記載の被コーティング粒子。
- コーティングが、クラックもフレークも有さない、請求項1から6のいずれか一項に記載の被コーティング粒子。
- 基材粒子が、その重量を基準にして、重量百分率で少なくとも1%のジルコニア、マグネシア、またはジルコニアとマグネシアとの混合物を含む、請求項1から7のいずれか一項に記載の被コーティング粒子。
- 基材粒子が、重量百分率で、全体で100%である、以下の化学分析:
Al2O3: 45〜65%
ZrO2+HfO2: 35〜50%
他: 0〜12%、または
a. Al2O3: 65〜80%
ZrO2+HfO2:15〜30%
他: 0〜12.0%、または
b. Al2O3: 92.0〜98.5%
MgO: 1.5〜6.5%
他: <2.0%
のうちの1つを有する、請求項1から8のいずれか一項に記載の被コーティング粒子。 - 結合剤によって結合され、支持体に凝集または堆積された研磨材粒子を含む研磨具であって、前記研磨材粒子の少なくとも一部が請求項1から9のいずれか一項に記載されている、研磨具。
- 被コーティング粒子を製造する方法であって、連続する以下のステップ:
1)基材粒子の重量を基準にして重量百分率で40%超のアルミナを含む溶融基材粒子を得るまたは製造するステップ;
2)前記基材粒子を、好ましくは水性の、シリカを含有する懸濁液によって少なくとも部分的にコーティングするステップ;
3)場合により、シリカをベースとするコーティングを形成するために、前記懸濁液によって湿らせた基材粒子を乾燥させるステップ
を含む方法。 - 場合によるステップ3)の後に、100℃を超え1550℃未満の温度で加熱処理を実施する加熱処理ステップ4)を含む、請求項11に記載の方法。
- 前記加熱処理を、300℃を超え500℃未満の温度で実施する、請求項12に記載の方法。
- 溶融基材粒子を、ステップ2)の前に、600℃を超え1550℃未満の温度の前加熱処理ステップに付す、請求項11から13のいずれか一項に記載の方法。
- 前記前加熱処理を、800℃を超え1350℃未満の温度で実施する、請求項14に記載の方法。
- 溶融基材粒子を、ステップ2)の前にいずれの加熱処理ステップにも付さない、請求項11から13のいずれか一項に記載の方法。
- 溶融基材粒子を、ステップ2)およびステップ3)、または、適切な場合には、ステップ4)の間にいずれの中間ステップにも付さない、請求項11から16のいずれか一項に記載の方法。
- ステップ3)または、適切な場合にはステップ4)の終わりに得られた被コーティング粒子が、請求項1から9のいずれか一項に従うように適合される、請求項11から17のいずれか一項に記載の方法。
- 基材粒子を被覆するためのステップ2)の前に、基材粒子を600℃から1550℃の範囲の温度で加熱処理に付す、請求項11から18のいずれか一項に記載の方法。
- 200℃から1550℃の範囲の温度での加熱処理を、粒子を乾燥した後に実施する、請求項11から19のいずれか一項に記載の方法。
