Abstract
【解決手段】陽極と陰極との間にEL層を有し、陰極とEL層との間に、第1の層、第2の層及び第3の層を有し、第1の層は、陰極と第2の層との間に設けられ、陰極及び第2の層と接し、かつ正孔輸送性物質とアクセプター性物質とからなり、第2の層は、第1の層と第3の層との間に設けられ、第1の層及び第3の層と接し、かつフタロシアニン系材料からなり、第3の層は、第2の層とEL層との間に設けられ、第2の層及びEL層と接し、かつアルカリ金属、アルカリ土類金属、希土類金属、アルカリ金属化合物、アルカリ土類金属化合物または希土類金属化合物を含み、フタロシアニン系材料は金属−酸素結合を有している。

Description
本発明の一態様である発光素子の素子構造を図1(A)(B)、図2を用いて説明する。
本実施形態は、実施形態1で説明した発光素子の一例について、図3(A)(B)を用いて説明する。
本実施形態は、実施形態1で説明した発光素子の一例について、図4(A)(B)を用いて説明する。
本実施形態では、実施形態1で説明した発光素子の一例として、第1の層106の構成について、図5(A)(B)を用いて説明する。
本実施形態では、実施形態1で説明した発光素子の一例として、EL層103の一部に陽極101と接して電荷発生領域が形成される場合について、図6(A)(B)を用いて説明する。発光素子は、EL層103の一部であって、陽極101と接して形成される電荷発生領域となる第5の層108と、実施形態1で説明した電荷発生領域となる第1の層116とを有する。
本実施の形態では、実施形態1乃至実施形態5で説明した発光素子を用いて作製される発光装置の一例として、パッシブマトリクス型の発光装置およびアクティブマトリクス型の発光装置について説明する。
本実施の形態では、本発明の一態様を適用して作製した発光装置を用いて完成させた様々な電子機器および照明装置について、図10、11を用いて説明する。
まず、ガラス基板上に110nmの膜厚で珪素若しくは酸化珪素を含むインジウム錫酸化物をスパッタリング法で成膜し、陽極を形成した(電極面積2mm×2mm)。

Claims (20)
- 陽極と陰極との間にEL層を有し、
前記陰極と前記EL層との間に、第1の層、第2の層及び第3の層を有し、
前記第1の層は、前記陰極と前記第2の層との間に設けられ、前記陰極及び前記第2の層と接し、かつ正孔輸送性物質を含み、
前記第2の層は、前記第1の層と前記第3の層との間に設けられ、前記第1の層及び前記第3の層と接し、かつ金属−酸素結合と芳香族配位子を有する金属錯体からなり、
前記第3の層は、前記第2の層と前記EL層との間に設けられ、前記第2の層及び前記EL層と接し、かつアルカリ金属、アルカリ土類金属、希土類金属、アルカリ金属化合物、アルカリ土類金属化合物または希土類金属化合物を含むことを特徴とする発光素子。 - 陽極と陰極との間にEL層を有し、
前記陰極と前記EL層との間に、第1の層、第2の層及び第3の層を有し、
前記第1の層は、前記陰極と前記第2の層との間に設けられ、前記陰極及び前記第2の層と接し、かつ正孔輸送性物質とアクセプター性物質とからなり、
前記第2の層は、前記第1の層と前記第3の層との間に設けられ、前記第1の層及び前記第3の層と接し、かつ金属−酸素結合と芳香族配位子を有する金属錯体からなり、
前記第3の層は、前記第2の層と前記EL層との間に設けられ、前記第2の層及び前記EL層と接し、かつアルカリ金属、アルカリ土類金属、希土類金属、アルカリ金属化合物、アルカリ土類金属化合物または希土類金属化合物を含むことを特徴とする発光素子。 - 請求項1又は2において、前記金属錯体は金属−酸素の二重結合を有することを特徴とする発光素子。
- 請求項1乃至3のいずれか一において、前記金属錯体はフタロシアニン系材料であることを特徴とする発光素子。
- 請求項4において、前記フタロシアニン系材料は下記構造式のいずれかであることを特徴とする発光素子。
- 請求項1乃至5のいずれか一において、前記第2の層はアルカリ金属、アルカリ土類金属、希土類金属、アルカリ金属化合物、アルカリ土類金属化合物または希土類金属化合物を含むことを特徴とする発光素子。
- 請求項6において、前記第2の層は、前記フタロシアニン系材料に対して、質量比で0.001以上0.1以下の比率で、前記アルカリ金属、アルカリ土類金属、希土類金属、アルカリ金属化合物、アルカリ土類金属化合物または希土類金属化合物を含むことを特徴とする発光素子。
- 請求項1乃至7のいずれか一において、前記第3の層は電子輸送性物質を含むことを特徴とする発光素子。
- 請求項8において、前記第3の層は、前記電子輸送性物質に対して、質量比で0.001以上0.1以下の比率で、前記アルカリ金属、アルカリ土類金属、希土類金属、アルカリ金属化合物、アルカリ土類金属化合物または希土類金属化合物を含むことを特徴とする発光素子。
- 請求項1乃至9のいずれか一において、
前記EL層は、電子輸送性物質を含む第4の層を含み、
前記第4の層と前記第3の層とが接することを特徴とする発光素子。 - 請求項1乃至10のいずれか一において、前記第1の層は、正孔輸送性物質に対して質量比で、0.1以上4.0以下の比率でアクセプター性物質を含むことを特徴とする発光素子。
- 請求項1乃至11のいずれか一において、前記第1の層は、正孔輸送性物質を含む層とアクセプター性物質を含む層からなる積層構造であることを特徴とする発光素子。
- 請求項1乃至12のいずれか一において、
前記EL層は、正孔輸送性物質とアクセプター性物質とを含む第5の層を含み、
前記第5の層と前記陽極とが接することを特徴とする発光素子。 - 請求項13において、前記第5の層は、前記正孔輸送性物質に対して質量比で、0.1以上4.0以下の比率で前記アクセプター性物質を含むことを特徴とする発光素子。
- 請求項13又は14において、前記第5の層は、前記正孔輸送性物質を含む層と前記アクセプター性物質を含む層からなる積層構造であることを特徴とする発光素子。
- 請求項2乃至15のいずれか一において、前記第1の層に含まれる前記アクセプター性物質は、遷移金属酸化物や元素周期表における第4族乃至第8族に属する金属の酸化物であることを特徴とする発光素子。
- 請求項2乃至請求項15のいずれか一において、前記第1の層に含まれる前記アクセプター性物質は、酸化モリブデンであることを特徴とする発光素子。
- 請求項1乃至請求項16のいずれか一に記載の発光素子を用いて形成されることを特徴とする発光装置。
- 請求項18に記載の発光装置を用いて形成されることを特徴とする電子機器。
- 請求項18に記載の発光装置を用いて形成されることを特徴とする照明装置。
