Abstract
【解決手段】走査線に走査信号を順次供給するための走査駆動部110と、前記走査信号と同期されるようにデータ線にデータ信号を供給するためのデータ駆動部120と、前記走査線及びデータ線の交差部に位置する画素140と、正常な画像を表示する正常駆動モードと最小限の情報のみを表示する待機駆動モードを判別するためのタイミング制御部150と、前記画素に供給される第1電源と第2電源を生成し、前記正常駆動モードで前記第1電源と前記第2電源間の電圧差を第1電圧に設定し、前記待機駆動モードで前記第1電源と前記第2電源間の電圧差を前記第1電圧と異なる第2電圧に設定する電源部とを備える。

Claims (18)
- 走査線に走査信号を順次供給するための走査駆動部と、
前記走査信号と同期されるようにデータ線にデータ信号を供給するためのデータ駆動部と、
前記走査線及びデータ線の交差部に位置する画素と、
正常な画像を表示する正常駆動モードと最小限の情報のみを表示する待機駆動モードを判別するためのタイミング制御部と、
前記画素に供給される第1電源と第2電源を生成し、前記正常駆動モードで前記第1電源と前記第2電源間の電圧差を第1電圧に設定し、前記待機駆動モードで前記第1電源と前記第2電源間の電圧差を前記第1電圧と異なる第2電圧に設定する電源部と、
を備えることを特徴とする有機電界発光表示装置。 - 前記第1電圧は、前記第2電圧より高い電圧であることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の有機電界発光表示装置。
- 前記データ駆動部は前記正常駆動モードで多様な階調を実現できる前記データ信号を供給し、前記待機駆動モードで前記画素の発光又は非発光のみを決定する前記データ信号を供給することを特徴とする請求項1または2に記載の有機電界発光表示装置。
- 前記画素のそれぞれは、
カソード電極が前記第2電源と接続される有機発光ダイオードと、
前記第1電源と前記有機発光ダイオードのアノード電極との間に位置し、前記有機発光ダイオードに供給される電流量を制御するための駆動トランジスタと含む画素回路と、
を備えることを特徴とする請求項1〜3のいずれか一項に記載の有機電界発光表示装置。 - 前記電源部は前記正常駆動モードで前記駆動トランジスタが飽和領域で駆動され得るように前記第1電源及び第2電源の電圧を設定することを特徴とする請求項4に記載の有機電界発光表示装置。
- 前記電源部は前記待機駆動モードで前記駆動トランジスタが線形領域で駆動され得るように前記第1電源及び第2電源の電圧を設定することを特徴とする請求項4に記載の有機電界発光表示装置。
- 前記待機駆動モードで、前記データ駆動部は前記駆動トランジスタが完全にターンオン又はターンオフされ得る前記データ信号を供給することを特徴とする請求項6に記載の有機電界発光表示装置。
- 前記電源部は前記待機駆動モードと前記正常駆動モードで同一の電圧値を維持する第3電源と、前記待機駆動モードと前記正常駆動モードに対応して電圧値が変更される第4電源を更に生成することを特徴とする請求項4〜7のいずれか一項に記載の有機電界発光表示装置。
- 前記第3電源は前記駆動トランジスタが完全にターンオンされ得る電圧に設定されることを特徴とする請求項8に記載の有機電界発光表示装置。
- 前記第3電源は前記データ駆動部から出力され得る最も低いデータ信号の電圧と同一か、より低い電圧に設定されることを特徴とする請求項9に記載の有機電界発光表示装置。
- 前記第4電源は前記正常駆動モードで前記データ駆動部から供給され得る最も低いデータ信号の電圧と同一か、より低い電圧に設定され、前記待機駆動モードで前記駆動トランジスタが完全にターンオフされ得る電圧に設定されることを特徴とする請求項8〜10のいずれか一項に記載の有機電界発光表示装置。
- 前記データ駆動部の出力端子と前記データ線との間に接続され、前記正常駆動モード期間に前記出力端子から供給されるデータ信号を前記データ線に伝達し、前記待機駆動モード期間に前記第3電源及び第4電源を前記データ線に伝達するためのスイッチ部を更に備えることを特徴とする請求項8〜11のいずれか一項に記載の有機電界発光表示装置。
- 前記スイッチ部は、
前記出力端子及びデータ線のそれぞれの間に設置され、前記タイミング制御部から供給される第1制御信号に対応して前記正常駆動モード期間にターンオン状態を維持し、前記待機駆動モード期間にターンオフ状態を維持する第1トランジスタと、
前記第4電源及びデータ線のそれぞれの間に設置され、前記出力端子に供給される電圧に対応して前記待機駆動モード期間にターンオン又はターンオフされる第2トランジスタと、
前記第3電源及び前記データ線の間に1つ以上設置され、前記タイミング制御部から供給される第2制御信号に対応して前記待機駆動モード期間にターンオン又はターンオフを繰り返す第3トランジスタと、
を備えることを特徴とする請求項12に記載の有機電界発光表示装置。 - 前記第3トランジスタは前記待機駆動モード中、前記走査信号が供給される期間にターンオフされ、走査信号が供給されない期間にターンオンされて前記第3電源の電圧を前記データ線に供給することを特徴とする請求項13に記載の有機電界発光表示装置。
- 前記第2トランジスタは前記待機駆動モード中、前記走査信号が供給される期間に前記走査信号に選択された画素が非発光状態に設定される場合にターンオンされ、その他の場合にターンオフされることを特徴とする請求項13に記載の有機電界発光表示装置。
- 第1電源から有機発光ダイオードを経由して第2電源に流れる電流量を制御する駆動トランジスタを備える画素を含む有機電界発光表示装置の駆動方法において、
正常な映像を表示するための正常駆動モード又は最小限の情報のみを表示するための待機駆動モードであるかを判別する段階と、
前記正常駆動モードの場合、前記駆動トランジスタが飽和領域で駆動され得るように前記第1電源及び第2電源の電圧を設定する段階と、
前記待機駆動モードの場合、前記駆動トランジスタが線形領域で駆動され得るように前記第1電源及び第2電源の電圧を設定する段階と、
を含むことを特徴とする有機電界発光表示装置の駆動方法。 - 前記正常駆動モードの場合、前記画素で多様な階調の映像が表示され得るようにデータ信号の電圧が設定されることを特徴とする請求項16に記載の有機電界発光表示装置の駆動方法。
- 前記待機駆動モードの場合、前記駆動トランジスタがスイッチ駆動されて前記画素が発光又は非発光状態で制御されるように前記データ信号の電圧が設定されることを特徴とする請求項16に記載の有機電界発光表示装置の駆動方法。
