Abstract

Claims (19)
- シングル記録用の書き込み装置であって、記録媒体と対向する媒体対向面に、トレーリング方向の縁と、当該縁から延伸する、クロストラック方向の第1および第2の縁と、を有する書き込み磁極を含む書き込み装置を含むシステムであって、
前記書き込み装置が、前記書き込み磁極の媒体対向面の周囲の一部に配置されるシールドであって、前記トレーリング方向の縁と、前記クロストラック方向の第1の縁と、に沿って延伸するシールドをさらに含む、
ことを特徴とするシステム。 - 前記シールドが、前記クロストラック方向の第2の縁に沿って延伸しない、請求項1に記載のシステム。
- 前記クロストラック方向の第1の縁と前記トレーリング方向の縁との間に形成される第1の角度が、前記クロストラック方向の第2の縁と前記トレーリング方向の縁との間に形成される第2の角度と異なる、請求項1に記載のシステム。
- 前記第1の角度が90度未満であり、前記第2の角度が前記第1の角度より大きい、請求項3に記載のシステム。
- 前記トレーリング方向の縁の前記クロストラック方向の長さが、前記書き込み装置によって書き込まれるシングルデータトラックのトラックピッチの半分以上2倍以下である、請求項1に記載のシステム。
- 前記トレーリング方向の縁と前記シールドとの間のギャップが、前記クロストラック方向の第1の縁と前記シールドとの間のギャップより小さい、請求項1に記載のシステム。
- 磁気領域トラックを含む磁気媒体と、
前記磁気媒体から読み出しかつ書き込むための少なくとも1つのヘッドであって、各ヘッドが、センサと、前記書き込み装置と、を有する少なくとも1つのヘッドと、
前記ヘッドを支持するためのスライダと、
前記ヘッドの動作を制御するための、前記ヘッドに結合された制御ユニットと、
をさらに含む、請求項1に記載のシステム。 - シングル記録用の書き込み装置であって、記録媒体と対向する媒体対向面に、トレーリング方向の縁と、当該縁から延伸する、クロストラック方向の第1および第2の縁と、を有する書き込み磁極を含む書き込み装置を含むシステムであって、
前記書き込み装置が、前記書き込み磁極の媒体対向面の周囲の一部に配置されるシールドであって、前記トレーリング方向の縁と、前記クロストラック方向の第1の縁と、に沿って延伸するシールドをさらに含み、
前記シールドが、前記クロストラック方向の第2の縁に沿って延伸しない、
ことを特徴とするシステム。 - 前記クロストラック方向の第1の縁と前記トレーリング方向の縁との間に形成される第1の角度が、前記クロストラック方向の第2の縁と前記トレーリング方向の縁との間に形成される第2の角度と異なる、請求項8に記載のシステム。
- 前記第1の角度が90度未満であり、前記第2の角度が前記第1の角度より大きい、請求項9に記載のシステム。
- 前記トレーリング方向の縁の前記クロストラック方向の長さが、前記書き込み装置によって書き込まれるシングルデータトラックのトラックピッチの半分以上2倍以下である、請求項8に記載のシステム。
- 前記トレーリング方向の縁と前記シールドとの間のギャップが、前記クロストラック方向の第1の縁と前記シールドとの間のギャップより小さい、請求項8に記載のシステム。

前記シールドが、前記クロストラック方向の第2の縁に沿って延伸せず、
前記クロストラック方向の第1の縁と前記トレーリング方向の縁との間に形成される第1の角度が、前記クロストラック方向の第2の縁と前記トレーリング方向の縁との間に形成される第2の角度と異なる、
ことを特徴とするシステム。 - 前記第1の角度が90度未満であり、前記第2の角度が前記第1の角度より大きい、請求項14に記載のシステム。
- 前記トレーリング方向の縁の前記クロストラック方向の長さが、前記書き込み装置によって書き込まれるシングルデータトラックのトラックピッチの半分以上2倍以下である、請求項14に記載のシステム。
- 前記トレーリング方向の縁と前記シールドとの間のギャップが、前記クロストラック方向の第1の縁と前記シールドとの間のギャップより小さい、請求項14に記載のシステム。
