Abstract
Description
本発明は、アリルアルコールをヒドロホルミル化して、4−ヒドロキシブチルアルデヒドを生成する方法に関する。この方法によって、4−ヒドロキシブチルアルデヒド:3−ヒドロキシ−2−メチルプロピオンアルデヒド(直鎖状:分枝状)生成物の比が予想外に高くなる。
アリルアルコールのヒドロホルミル化は、よく知られた商業的に実施されている方法である。例えば、米国特許第4,064,145号、同第4,215,077号、同第4,238,419号、同第4,678,857号、および同第5,290,743号を参照のこと。ヒドロホルミル化反応において、アリルアルコールは、触媒の存在下でCO/H2ガス混合物と反応して、4−ヒドロキシブチルアルデヒド(HBA)を生成する。次いで、HBAを、例えば水抽出によって触媒から分離し、水素化して、1,4−ブタンジオール(BDO)を生成する。米国特許第5,504,261号を参照のこと。
本発明は、アリルアルコールを、溶媒および触媒系の存在下で一酸化炭素および水素と反応させて、4−ヒドロキシブチルアルデヒドを生成することを含む方法である。触媒系は、ロジウム錯体およびtrans−1,2−ビス(ビス(3,5−ジ−n−アルキルフェニル)ホスフィノメチル)シクロブタンを含む。驚くべきことに、本発明によれば、3−ヒドロキシ−2−メチルプロピオンアルデヒドに比べて4−ヒドロキシブチルアルデヒド生成物の比が高くなる。
本発明の方法は、アリルアルコールを、溶媒および触媒系の存在下でヒドロホルミル化することを含む。本発明の触媒系は、ロジウム錯体およびtrans−1,2−ビス(ビス(3,5−ジ−n−アルキルフェニル)ホスフィノメチル)シクロブタンを含む。trans−1,2−ビス(ビス(3,5−ジ−n−アルキルフェニル)ホスフィノメチル)シクロブタンは、次の化学式を有する:

式中、R1はアリール基またはアルキル基である。適当な脂肪族R1基としては、メチル、エチル、n−ブチル、sec−ブチル、オクチル、およびデシルが挙げられる。適当な芳香族R1基としては、フェニル、トリル、およびナフチルが挙げられる。R1基は同じでもよく、あるいは異なるが、好ましくは同じである。好ましくは、モノホスフィンは三置換アリールホスフィンである。より好ましくは、モノホスフィンは、トリフェニルホスフィンまたはトリトリルホスフィンである。トリフェニルホスフィンが特に好ましい。
1A、1B、および1C:次の一般式のジホスフィン1A、1B、および1Cを以下に記載のように調製する。
次の手順に従って、ジホスフィン1A〜1Fを使用してアリルアルコールをヒドロホルミル化する。
Claims (15)
- 溶媒と、ロジウム錯体およびtrans−1,2−ビス(ビス(3,5−ジ−n−アルキルフェニル)ホスフィノメチル)シクロブタンを含む触媒系との存在下で、アリルアルコールを一酸化炭素および水素と反応させることを含む、4−ヒドロキシブチルアルデヒドを生成する方法。
- 触媒系が、ロジウム錯体およびtrans−1,2−ビス(ビス(3,5−ジ−メチルフェニル)ホスフィノメチル)シクロブタンを含む、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 触媒系が、ロジウム錯体およびtrans−1,2−ビス(ビス(3,5−ジ−エチルフェニル)ホスフィノメチル)シクロブタンを含む、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 溶媒が、C5〜C20脂肪族炭化水素、C6〜C12芳香族炭化水素、エーテル、アルコール、およびそれらの混合物からなる群から選択される、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 溶媒が、トルエン、シクロヘキサン、メチルt−ブチルエーテル、およびそれらの混合物からなる群から選択される、請求項1に記載の方法。
- ロジウム錯体が、ロジウムと、ヒドリド、カルボニル、トリアルキルまたはトリアリールホスフィン、ジホスフィン、シクロペンタジエニル、2,4−アルカンジオナート、およびそれらの混合物からなる群から選択されるリガンドとを含む、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 反応が、約45℃〜約85℃の範囲内の温度および約30〜約400psigの範囲内の圧力で行われる、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 触媒系が、モノホスフィン化合物をさらに含む、請求項1に記載の方法。
- モノホスフィン化合物がトリフェニルホスフィンである、請求項8に記載の方法。
- 水素化触媒の存在下で4−ヒドロキシブチルアルデヒドを水素化して、1,4−ブタンジオールを生成することをさらに含む、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 水素化触媒がニッケル触媒である、請求項10に記載の方法。
- ロジウム錯体およびtrans−1,2−ビス(ビス(3,5−ジ−n−アルキルフェニル)ホスフィノメチル)シクロブタンを含む触媒。
- 触媒系が、ロジウム錯体およびtrans−1,2−ビス(ビス(3,5−ジ−メチルフェニル)ホスフィノメチル)シクロブタンを含む、請求項12に記載の触媒。
- 触媒系が、ロジウム錯体およびtrans−1,2−ビス(ビス(3,5−ジ−エチルフェニル)ホスフィノメチル)シクロブタンを含む、請求項12に記載の触媒。
- ロジウム錯体が、ロジウムと、ヒドリド、カルボニル、トリアルキルまたはトリアリールホスフィン、ジホスフィン、シクロペンタジエニル、2,4−アルカンジオナート、およびそれらの混合物からなる群から選択されるリガンドとを含む、請求項12に記載の触媒。
