Description
Claims (31)
- 組織刺激装置であって:
刺激されるべき組織へ長手方向軸と実質的に平行な方向に挿入可能な、前記長手方向軸を有する刺激リード;
前記リードにより保持され、前記長手方向軸の周りに二次元配列に配置される複数の電極、を有し、
電極により生成される刺激電界は、少なくとも三次元で操作可能である、装置。 - 刺激電界は、時間次元で操作可能である、請求項1に記載の装置。
- 前記電極はn回対称であり、nは3以上の整数であり、前記二次元配列は最密配列を有する、請求項1に記載の装置。
- nは6以上の整数である、請求項3に記載の装置。
- 前記二次元配列は規則的配列を有する、請求項1に記載の装置。
- 前記二次元配列は不規則的配列を有する、請求項1に記載の装置。
- 前記リードに保持される基準マーカーを更に有し、前記基準マーカーは、前記リードの回転配向を識別する、請求項1に記載の装置。
- 前記基準マーカーは、前記リードが前記組織内に移植されるときに処置される対象物の内部の画像診断検査のときに目に見える、請求項7に記載の装置。
- 前記基準マーカーは、定位固定ヘッド・フレームと係合する回転非対称部分を有する、請求項7に記載の装置。<
- 空間的及び時間的に変化する電気刺激方法に従い、前記電極を電気的に刺激する手段、を有する請求項1に記載の装置。

- 前記リードは、実質的に円形の外郭断面を有し、前記組織は神経組織である、請求項1に記載の装置。
- 前記配列は、長手方向に配置された第1及び第2の列を有し、前記第1及び第2の列は、長手方向に間隔を有し、前記第1及び第2の列は前記間隔より短い距離だけずれている、請求項1に記載の装置。
- 組織刺激方法であって:
目標の組織へ、長手方向軸の周りに角度を付けて配置された複数の電極を有する刺激リードを挿入する段階;
刺激電界を生成するように、第1の刺激電極に電気刺激を印加する段階;
前記刺激電界の分布を3つの空間的次元で変化させるように、少なくとも第1及び第2の遮蔽電極に印加される電気刺激を変化する段階;を有する方法。 - 前記リードは六角形の電極を有する、請求項17に記載の方法。
- 前記リードは、最密二次元配列に配置された複数の六角形の電極を有する、請求項18に記載の方法。
- 前記電極は、二次元配列に配置され、少なくとも隣接する長手方向に配置された第1及び第2の行を有し、前記第1及び第2の行は、角度を付けて間隔を空けられ、前記第1及び第2の行は、角度を付けた配列の間隔のゼロでない分数分だけ角度を付けてずれている、請求項17に記載の方法。
- 前記刺激電界の時間的分布を変化するよう、前記第1及び第2の遮蔽電極の少なくとも1つに印加される前記電気刺激を変化する段階、を有する請求項17に記載の方法。
- 前記長手方向軸の周りを回転する刺激電界を生成するために、前記電極に印加される電気刺激を変化する段階、を有し、前記刺激電界は回転対称を有する、請求項17に記載の方法。
- 前記リードは、前記リードの回転配向を識別する基準マーカーを保持し、前記方法は、前記基準マーカーの位置を決定するために医療撮像スキャナーを用いる段階を有する、請求項17に記載の方法。
- 前記リードの近位部分は、前記リードの回転配向の触覚的表示及び視覚的表示の1つを提供する基準マーカーを有し、前記方法は、前記組織に対して前記リードの位置決めをする前記基準マーカーを用いる段階を有する、請求項17に記載の方法。
- 生体信号を検知するために電極を用いる段階、を有する請求項17に記載の方法。
- 前記組織は脳組織である、請求項17記載の方法。
- 前記方法は、前記目標の組織に関して前記リードの回転配向を決定する段階、及び前記第1の刺激電極を選択するために前記決定した回転を用いる段階、を有する請求項17に記載の方法。
- 組織刺激装置であって:
実質的に回転対称の外郭断面を有する、長手方向軸を有する刺激リード;
前記リードにより保持され前記長手方向軸の周りに二次元最密配列で配置される複数の刺激電極、を有する組織刺激装置。 - 前記電極は六角形である、請求項28に記載の装置。
- 前記リードの回転配向を示す基準マーカー手段を有する、請求項28に記載の装置。
- 目標の組織に関して電極の位置を決定し、及び前記決定した位置に基づき前記電極に電気刺激を選択的に印加する手段、を有する請求項28に記載の装置。
