Abstract
Description

Claims (23)
- 病状を有する患者に治療を提供するためのシステムであって、
脊髄内の後柱神経要素よりも優先的に後角神経要素を刺激する刺激プログラムに従って患者の脊髄に電気刺激エネルギを送出するための手段を備え、この手段は、前記後角神経要素を刺激する異なる向きを有する複数の電界を発生させるための手段を含む、システム。 - 前記電気刺激エネルギは、前記患者内の異常感覚の知覚を生成することなく該患者の脊髄に送出される、請求項1に記載のシステム。
- 前記電気刺激エネルギは、パルス電気波形として前記患者の脊髄に送出される、請求項1に記載のシステム。
- 前記複数の電界は、パルス毎ベースでそれぞれ発生される、請求項3に記載のシステム。
- 前記複数の電界は、前記後角神経要素内で刺激の時間的加重を達成する、請求項1に記載のシステム。
- 前記患者の脊髄の長手軸に沿って埋め込まれるように構成された電気刺激リードを更に備え、
電気刺激エネルギを送出するための前記手段は、前記電気刺激リードから電気刺激エネルギを送出するための手段を含む、請求項1に記載のシステム。 - 前記電気刺激リードは複数の電極を担持し、該電極の全てが、活性化されて各電界を発生させる、請求項6に記載のシステム。
- 前記複数の電界は、異なる中外側方向に向けられる、請求項1に記載のシステム。
- 前記複数の電界は、異なる吻−尾側方向に向けられる、請求項1に記載のシステム。
- 前記電界を複数回循環させるための手段を更に含む、請求項1に記載のシステム。
- 前記電界は、各電界サイクルに対して同じ回数発生される、請求項10に記載のシステム。
- 前記電界は、各電界サイクルに対して異なる回数発生される、請求項10に記載のシステム。
- 前記電界は、前記電界サイクル中に同じ順序で発生される、請求項10に記載のシステム。
- 前記電界は、前記電界サイクル中に異なる順序で発生される、請求項10に記載のシステム。
- バースト周波数で電界サイクルをオン及びオフでバーストさせるための手段を更に含む、請求項10に記載のシステム。
- 前記バースト周波数は、病状の病理学的バースト周波数に合致される、請求項15に記載のシステム。
- 送出される前記電気刺激エネルギは、アノードのものである、請求項1に記載のシステム。
- 前記患者の脊髄に隣接して埋め込まれるように構成された複数の電極を更に含み、
電気刺激エネルギを送出するための前記手段は、前記複数の電極から電気刺激エネルギを送出するための手段を含む、請求項1に記載のシステム。 - 前記電極は、半径方向にセグメント化された電極である、請求項18に記載のシステム。
- 前記電極の各々に対する刺激閾値を決定するための手段と、該電極の該刺激閾値に基づいて前記電界の各々を発生させるための手段と、を更に含む、請求項18に記載のシステム。
- 前記電極の各々に対する刺激閾値を決定するための前記手段は、
異なる振幅で該電極の各々から電気エネルギを自動的に送出するための手段と、
該電極の各々からの該電気エネルギの送出に応答して引き起こされた複合活動電位を自動的に測定するための手段と、
該電極の各々に対して測定される該引き起こされた複合活動電位の振幅を自動的に記録するための手段と、を含む、請求項20に記載のシステム。 - 前記電極の各々に対する刺激閾値を決定するための前記手段は、
異なる振幅で該電極の各々から電気エネルギを自動的に送出するための手段と、
該電極の各々からの該電気エネルギの送出に応答した前記患者からのフィードバックを取得するための手段と、
該電極の各々に対して異常感覚が該患者によって知覚される振幅を自動的に記録するための手段と、を含む、請求項20に記載のシステム。 - 前記病状は慢性疼痛である、請求項1に記載のシステム。
