Abstract
Description

Claims (23)
- 神経変調システムであって、
複数の電気端子と、変調出力回路と、制御回路と、を有し、
前記複数の電気端子はそれぞれ、複数の電極に結合されるように構成され、
前記変調出力回路は、閾値以下レベルの治療を患者に行うために、少なくとも1つの変調パラメータに従って、電気エネルギを前記複数の電気端子に送出するように構成され、
前記制御回路は、前記送出された電気エネルギが前記閾値以下レベルに継続的に維持されるように、前記少なくとも1つの変調パラメータの以前の値に基づいて、前記少なくとも1つの変調パラメータの値を疑似乱数的に変化させる仕方で、前記変調出力回路を制御するように構成される、神経変調システム。 - 前記制御回路は、更に、前記少なくとも1つの変調パラメータの前記疑似乱数的に変化させた値を、前記第1の値及び疑似乱数的に発生させた数の関数に基づいて計算するように構成され、かつ、前記少なくとも1つの変調パラメータの前記疑似乱数的に変化させた値を有する電気エネルギを送出するように、前記変調出力回路を制御するように構成される、請求項1に記載の神経変調システム。
- 前記制御回路は、更に、前記少なくとも1つの変調パラメータの値を前記少なくとも1つの変調パラメータの平均値付近で増加させること及び減少させることの両方によって、前記少なくとも1つの変調パラメータを疑似乱数的に変化させるように構成される、請求項1に記載の神経変調システム。
- 前記少なくとも1つの変調パラメータは、限定された範囲内で疑似乱数的に変化させられる、請求項1〜3のいずれか1項に記載の神経変調システム。
- 前記制御回路は、更に、前記限定された範囲を定めるように構成される、請求項4に記載の神経変調システム。
- 更に、ユーザインタフェースを有し、前記ユーザインタフェースは、前記限定された範囲を定めるユーザ入力を受信するように構成される、請求項4に記載の神経変調システム。
- 前記少なくとも1つの変調パラメータの疑似乱数的変化は、生理学的に関連した信号を模倣する、請求項1〜6のいずれか1項に記載の神経変調システム。
- 前記変調パラメータは、パルス振幅、パルス持続時間、及びパルス速度のうちの少なくとも1つを含む、請求項1〜7のいずれか1項に記載の神経変調システム。
- 変化させた前記少なくとも1つの変調パラメータは、1500Hzよりも速いパルス速度である、請求項1〜8のいずれか1項に記載の神経変調システム。
- 変化させた前記少なくとも1つの変調パラメータは、100μs未満のパルス幅である、請求項1〜9のいずれか1項に記載の神経変調システム。
- 前記送出される電気エネルギは、電気パルス列である、請求項1〜10のいずれか1項に記載の神経変調システム。
- 前記少なくとも1つの変調パラメータは、経時的な神経学的順応を回避するために、疑似乱数的に変化させられる、請求項1〜11のいずれか1項に記載の神経変調システム。
- 患者に治療を行う方法であって、
少なくとも1つの変調パラメータに従って、電気エネルギを患者の組織に送出して、閾値以下レベルの治療を患者に行う段階と、
前記少なくとも1つの変調パラメータの以前の値に基づいて、前記少なくとも1つの変調パラメータの値を疑似乱数的に変化させて、前記送出された電気エネルギを前記閾値以下レベルに継続的に維持する段階と、を含む方法。 - 更に、前記少なくとも1つの変調パラメータの前記疑似乱数的に変化させた値を、前記以前の値と疑似乱数的に発生させた数の関数に基づいて計算する段階と、
前記少なくとも1つの変調パラメータの前記疑似乱数的に変化させた値を有する電気エネルギを送出する段階と、を含む請求項13に記載の方法。 - 前記少なくとも1つの変調パラメータ値を前記少なくとも1つの変調パラメータの平均値付近で増加させること及び減少させることの両方によって、前記少なくとも1つの変調パラメータを疑似乱数的に変化させる、請求項13に記載の方法。
- 前記少なくとも1つの変調パラメータを、限定された範囲内で疑似乱数的に変化させる、請求項13〜15のいずれか1項に記載の方法。
- 更に、前記限定された範囲を定めるユーザ入力を受信する段階を含む、請求項16に記載の方法。
- 前記変調パラメータは、パルス振幅、パルス持続時間、及びパルス速度のうちの少なくとも1つを含む、請求項13〜17のいずれか1項に記載の方法。
- 前記少なくとも1つの変調パラメータの前記疑似乱数的変化は、生理学的に関連した信号を模倣する、請求項13〜18のいずれか1項に記載の方法。
- 変化させた前記少なくとも1つの変調パラメータは、1500Hzよりも速いパルス速度である、請求項13〜19のいずれか1項に記載の方法。
- 変化させた前記少なくとも1つの変調パラメータは、100μs未満のパルス幅である、請求項13〜20のいずれか1項に記載の方法。
- 前記送出される電気エネルギは、電気パルス列である、請求項13〜21のいずれか1項に記載の方法。
- 更に、前記少なくとも1つの変調パラメータの疑似乱数的に変化させた複数の値に従って、電気エネルギを送出する段階を含み、前記少なくとも1つの変調パラメータを疑似乱数的に変化させなかった場合に起こるであろう神経学的順応を受けることなしに、神経組織を刺激する、請求項13〜22のいずれか1項に記載の方法。
