Abstract
【解決手段】画像表示装置10は、画像表示媒体12の、複数種類の着色粒子32C、32Y、32Mのうち少なくとも2種類の着色粒子が表示基板18及び背面基板28の一方の基板に積層されている場合に、当該少なくとも2種類の着色粒子のうち他方の基板側へ移動開始する閾値電圧の絶対値が最も高い着色粒子以外の着色粒子を往復運動させるための交番電圧を、表示基板18と背面基板28との間に印加してから、他方の基板側に移動させるべき着色粒子を他方の基板側に移動させるための表示駆動電圧を、表示基板18と背面基板28との間に印加する電圧印加部40を備える。

Description
図1(A)は、本発明の第1実施形態に係る画像表示装置10を示す概略構成図である。なお、図1(A)は、マゼンダ色を表示している例を示す図である。
次に、本発明の第2実施形態について説明する。図7(A)は、本発明の第2実施形態に係る画像表示装置50の構成を示す図である。なお、第1実施形態と同一部分については同一符号を付し、その詳細な説明は省略する。
また、第1実施形態と同様に、図5(B)に示すような交番電圧であるが電圧値が±Vc2である交番電圧を印加してもよいし、図5(C)に示すような交番電圧であるが電圧値が±Vc2である交番電圧を印加するようにしてもよい。

Claims (12)
- 少なくとも一方が透光性を有する一対の基板と、前記一対の記基板間に封入された液体と、前記一対の基板間に形成された電界に応じて移動するように前記一対の基板間に封入された帯電極性が同極性であると共に色及び閾値電圧特性が異なる複数種類の粒子群と、を備えた画像表示媒体の、前記複数種類の粒子群のうち少なくとも2種類の粒子群が前記一対の基板の一方の基板に積層されている場合に、当該少なくとも2種類の粒子群のうち他方の基板側へ移動開始する閾値電圧の絶対値が最も高い粒子群以外の粒子群を往復運動させるための交番電圧を、前記一対の基板間に印加する第1の電圧印加手段と、
前記他方の基板側に移動させるべき粒子群を前記他方の基板側に移動させるための表示駆動電圧を、前記一対の基板間に印加する第2の電圧印加手段と、
を備えた画像表示媒体の駆動装置。 - 前記第1の電圧印加手段は、前記複数種類の粒子群のうち同極性に帯電された少なくとも2種類の粒子群が前記一方の基板に積層されている状態から、一部の種類の粒子群を前記他方の基板側に移動させる場合にのみ、前記一部の種類の粒子群を移動させるための交番電圧を前記一対の基板間に印加する
請求項1記載の画像表示媒体の駆動装置。 - 前記第1の電圧印加手段は、前記他方の基板側に残る粒子群が2種類以上の粒子群から成る場合、前記閾値電圧の絶対値が最も高い閾値電圧を除いて閾値電圧が高い順に、前記交番電圧を前記一対の基板間に印加する
請求項2記載の画像表示媒体の駆動装置。 - 前記交番電圧のパルス幅が、前記表示駆動電圧のパルス幅よりも小さい
請求項1〜3の何れか1項に記載の画像表示媒体の駆動装置。 - 前記交番電圧のうち前記他方の基板側へ一旦移動した粒子群を前記一方の基板側へ戻すためのパルス電圧のパルス幅が、前記交番電圧のうち前記一方の基板側から前記他方の基板側へ前記粒子群を移動させるためのパルス電圧のパルス幅よりも大きい
請求項1〜4の何れか1項に記載の画像表示媒体の駆動装置。 - 前記交番電圧のうち前記他方の基板側へ一旦移動した粒子群を前記一方の基板側へ戻すためのパルス電圧の絶対値が、前記交番電圧のうち前記一方の基板側から前記他方の基板側へ前記粒子群を移動させるためのパルス電圧の絶対値よりも大きい
