Abstract
【解決手段】重合体微粒子の表層に20℃の水に対する溶解度が0.03質量%以下のモノマー(疎水性モノマー)が共重合して成る重合体が存在する体積平均粒子径が100μm以下の微粒子を一次粒子として有し、水に対する接触角が90度以上であるアクリル系重合体微粒子を製造するための方法であって、アクリル系モノマーを水性媒体中で重合して重合体分散液を調製し、前記疎水性モノマーを全モノマー量に対して0.1〜5質量%添加し、重合体分散液を乾燥して重合体を回収する工程を有するアクリル系重合体微粒子の製造方法、並びに、そのアクリル系重合体微粒子を含むプラスチゾル組成物。

Description
温度計、窒素ガス導入管、攪拌棒、滴下漏斗、冷却管を装備した300mlの4つ口フラスコに、純水100gを入れ、30分間十分に窒素ガスを通気し、純水中の溶存酸素を置換した。次に、窒素ガスの通気を停止した後、200rpmで攪拌しながら80℃に昇温した。内温が80℃に達した時点で、2.0gの純水に溶解した過硫酸カリウム(カーク(株)製)0.05gを一度に添加した。
まず、重合体微粒子(A1)の場合と同様にして第1滴下を行って80℃にて1時間攪拌を継続した。次いで、疎水性モノマーとして2−エチルヘキシルアクリレート(三菱化学(株)製、商品名アクリル酸2−エチルヘキシル)2.0gと乳化剤(ジオクチルスルホコハク酸ナトリウムをモノマー合計100gあたり1.0g)を均一に溶解した混合液を添加し、引き続き80℃にて1時間攪拌を継続し、重合体ラテックスを得た。この重合体ラテックスを重合体微粒子(A1)の場合と同様にして噴霧乾燥し、重合体微粒子(A2)を得た。
重合体微粒子(A2)の疎水性モノマー(2−エチルヘキシルアクリレート)の代わりに、重合体微粒子(A3)ではC12〜C13アルキルメタクリレート(三菱レイヨン(株)製、商品名アクリエステルSL)を、重合体微粒子(A4)ではシクロヘキシルメタクリレート(三菱レイヨン(株)製、商品名アクリエステルCH)を、重合体微粒子(A5)ではメタクリル酸(三菱レイヨン(株)製)を、それぞれ疎水性モノマーとして使用したことを除き、重合体微粒子(A2)の場合と同様にして重合体微粒子(A3)〜(A5)を調製した。
重合体微粒子(A2)の疎水性モノマー(2−エチルヘキシルアクリレート)の添加量(2.0g)を、重合体微粒子(A6)では1.0g、重合体微粒子(A7)では4.0gに変更したことを除き、重合体微粒子(A2)の場合と同様にして重合体微粒子(A6)及び(A7)を調製した。
重合体微粒子の一次粒子径は、いずれもスプレードライヤーを用いて重合体微粒子を製造する前の重合体ラテックスの粒子径を測定することで求めた。具体的には、堀場製作所(株)レーザー光散乱式粒度分布測定装置LA−910Wを用い、分散媒として脱イオン水を用いて実施した。
以上のようにして得た重合体微粒子(A1)〜(A7)を、荷重20MPa、60℃の条件下でプレス成形して、粒子が圧密充填された平板状の試験体を得た。この試験体に対して純水が形成する接触角を、25±5℃の環境下、接触角測定装置(協和界面科学(株)製CA-X150)を用いて測定した。測定は同一試験体について8回行い、最大値と最小値を棄てた6点の中で平均値を算出した。なお水滴が試験体に吸収されてしまい測定できない場合は「測定不能」と記載した。その測定結果を表1に示す。
表2に示した各重合体微粒子100質量部あたり可塑剤としてジイソノニルフタレートを100質量部投入し、真空ミキサー((株)シンキー製ARV−200)にて脱泡攪拌(10秒間大気圧で混合した後、20mmHgに減圧して50秒間混合)を行い、均一なプラスチゾル組成物を得た。得られたプラスチゾル組成物につき、以下に示す項目について評価を行った。その評価結果を表2に示す。
プラスチゾル組成物を調製してから1時間以内に、EMD型粘度計(東機産業(株)製、EMD型粘度計、コーン角度3度)を用いて、測定温度25℃、剪断速度10s-1(回転数5rpm)と、剪断速度100s-1(回転数50rpm)の2点にて粘度を測定し(単位:mPa・s)、以下の基準で評価した。
「◎」:剪断速度10-1での粘度が1500mPa・s未満。
「○」:剪断速度10-1での粘度が1500mPa・s以上2000mPa・s未満。
「×」:剪断速度10-1での粘度が2000mPa・s以上。
上記の2点の粘度測定結果よりチキソ性の指標としてTI値を以下のように算出した。TI値=(剪断速度10s-1での粘度)/剪断速度100s-1での粘度)
ここで、TI値が高いほどチキソ性が強く、流動性に乏しいことを意味し、逆にTI値が低いほどチキソ性が低く、流動性に優れることを意味する。具体的には、以下の基準で評価した。
「◎」:TI値が1.5未満。
「○」:TI値が2.0未満。
「×」:TI値が2.0以上。
実施例1は、疎水性モノマーである2−エチルヘキシルアクリレートを重合させて表面を被覆した重合体微粒子(A2)を用いた例である。重合体微粒子(A2)は水に対する接触角が高く、水に濡れにくいことがわかる。逆に言えば、疎水性媒体に対して濡れ性が良好であり、実際、可塑剤(ジイソノニルフタレート)に対して良好に分散でき、得られるプラスチゾル組成物の粘度、チキソ性ともに低かった。すなわち、流動性に優れた、極めて良好なプラスチゾル組成物が得られた。
Claims (2)
- 重合体微粒子の表層に、20℃の水に対する溶解度が0.03質量%以下のモノマーが共重合して成る重合体が存在する体積平均粒子径が100μm以下の微粒子を一次粒子として有し、水に対する接触角が90度以上であるアクリル系重合体微粒子を製造するための方法であって、アクリル系モノマーを水性媒体中で重合して重合体分散液を調製し、20℃の水に対する溶解度が0.03質量%以下のモノマーを、重合体を与える全モノマー量に対して0.1〜5質量%これに添加し、次いで重合体分散液を乾燥して重合体を回収する工程を有するアクリル系重合体微粒子の製造方法。
- 請求項1に記載の製造方法によって得られるアクリル系重合体微粒子を含むプラスチゾル組成物。
