Abstract
【解決手段】互いに独立して制御可能な複数の部分点灯部4において、発光強度をそれぞれ制御する。これにより、映像信号Dinに応じて分割表示領域ごとに発光強度の調整が可能となり、表示コントラストの鮮鋭感が向上する。また、分割表示領域ごとに、極性反転の際の振幅中心電位が、部分点灯部4の発光強度に依存せずに対向電極電位Vcomと略一致するように、RGB信号D1の補正を行う。これにより、振幅中心電位と対向電極電位Vcomとの電位差に起因した、液晶の焼きつきやフリッカ、表示むらの発生などが抑えられる。

Claims (5)
- 互いに独立して制御可能な複数の部分点灯部を有する光源部と、各部分点灯部の発光強度を制御する光源制御部とを有する光源装置と、
液晶素子を含む複数の画素が全体としてマトリクス状に配置されると共に、前記光源装置から発せられた光を入力映像信号に基づいて変調する液晶表示パネルと、
各画素の液晶素子に対し、前記入力映像信号に基づく駆動電圧を極性反転しつつ印加することにより、極性反転表示駆動を行う表示駆動部と
を備え、
前記表示駆動部は、各部分点灯部の点灯領域に対応する前記液晶表示パネル上の分割表示領域ごとに、前記駆動電圧の電圧波形における極性反転の際の振幅中心電位が、部分点灯部の発光強度に依存せずに所定の対向電極電位と略一致するように、前記光源制御部から供給される各部分点灯部の発光強度の制御信号を用いて前記入力映像信号の補正を行うと共に、そのような補正後の映像信号に対応する駆動電圧を、前記液晶素子に印加する

各部分点灯部の発光強度が高くなるのに応じて、正極側の駆動電圧の絶対値が小さくなると共に負極側の駆動電圧の絶対値が大きくなるように、前記入力映像信号の補正を行い、
各部分点灯部の発光強度が低くなるのに応じて、正極側の駆動電圧の絶対値が大きくなると共に負極側の駆動電圧の絶対値が小さくなるように、前記入力映像信号の補正を行う
請求項1に記載の液晶表示装置。 - 前記光源制御部は、各部分点灯部の点灯期間を変化させることによって、各部分点灯部の発光強度を制御し、
前記表示駆動部は、前記光源制御部から供給される各部分点灯部における点灯期間の制御信号を用いて、前記入力映像信号の補正を行う
請求項2に記載の液晶表示装置。 - 前記表示駆動部は、各分割表示領域の境界付近では、対応する複数の部分点灯部における発光強度に対して距離に応じた重み付け加算が行われた後の発光強度に応じて、前記入力映像信号の補正を行う
請求項1ないし請求項3のいずれか1項に記載の液晶表示装置。 - 前記液晶表示パネルにおいて、各画素の液晶素子に対して前記駆動電圧を印加するためのTFT素子が、非晶質シリコン(Si)を用いて構成されている
請求項1に記載の液晶表示装置。
