Abstract
【解決手段】本発明に係る有機電界発光表示装置は、光センサと、前記光センサから感知される周辺光の明るさに対応するガンマ値を選択し、当該選択されたガンマ値に対応するガンマ補正信号を出力し、前記データ信号の階調電圧を調節する第1制御部と、前記光感知信号と予め設定された基準値とを比較して選択信号を生成し、前記選択信号に対応して、入力映像データを変更したデータを前記データ駆動部に提供する第2制御部と、前記入力映像データに対して、入力映像に関連する特性の抽出、及び当該抽出された特性から得られるスケール比により、前記入力映像データを低減させるスケーリング係数を求め、これを適用した映像データを前記データ駆動部に提供する第3制御部と、前記発光制御信号のパルス幅を調節する輝度制御信号を前記走査駆動部に提供する第4制御部とを備えて構成される。

Claims (20)
- 走査信号を伝達する複数の走査線及び発光制御信号を提供する複数の発光制御線と、データ信号を伝達する複数のデータ線と、当該走査線、発光制御線、データ線にそれぞれ接続される複数の画素を含む画素部と、
前記走査信号及び発光制御信号を順次生成し、前記複数の走査線に印加する走査駆動部と、
前記データ信号を生成し、前記データ線に印加するデータ駆動部と、
外光の強度に対応する光感知信号を生成する光センサと、
前記光センサから感知される周辺光の明るさに対応するガンマ値を選択し、当該選択されたガンマ値に対応するガンマ補正信号を出力し、前記データ信号の階調電圧を調節する第1制御部と、
前記光感知信号と予め設定された基準値とを比較して選択信号を生成し、前記選択信号に対応して、入力映像データRGB Dataを変更したデータR’G’B’ Dataを前記データ駆動部に提供する第2制御部と、
前記入力映像データRGB Dataに対して、入力映像に関連する特性の抽出、及び当該抽出された特性から得られるスケール比により、前記入力映像データを低減させるスケーリング係数を求め、これを適用した映像データR”G”B” Dataを前記データ駆動部に提供する第3制御部と、
前記発光制御信号のパルス幅を調節する輝度制御信号を前記走査駆動部に提供する第4制御部と、
を備えることを特徴とする有機電界発光表示装置。 - 前記光センサから感知される周辺光の明るさ等級により既に設定された基準値以下の照度の場合には、第1制御部が動作し、基準値以上の照度の場合には、第2制御部が動作することを特徴とする請求項1に記載の有機電界発光表示装置。
- 前記データ駆動部は、前記第1制御部ないし第3制御部の少なくともいずれか1つの制御部により変換された映像データを受け取り、これに対応するデータ信号を生成してデータ線に伝達することを特徴とする請求項1に記載の有機電界発光表示装置。
- 前記第2制御部で生成される変更済みの映像データR’G’B’ Data、及び前記第3制御部で生成される変更済みの映像データR”G”B” Dataは、そのうち1つのみが選択され、前記データ駆動部に提供されることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の有機電界発光表示装置。
- 前記第1制御部は、
前記光センサから出力されるアナログ感知信号をデジタル感知信号に変換するアナログ−デジタル変換器と、
前記1フレームの期間に所定の数をカウントし、これに対応するカウント信号を生成するカウンタと、
前記デジタル感知信号と前記カウント信号とを用いて、これに対応する制御信号を出力する変換処理部と、
前記周辺光の明るさを複数の段階に分け、各段階に対応する複数のレジスタ設定値を格納するレジスタ生成部と、
前記レジスタ生成部に格納された複数のレジスタ設定値のうち、前記変換処理部により設定された制御信号に対応して、前記複数のレジスタ設定値のうち、1つのレジスタ設定値を選択して出力する第1選択部と、
前記変換処理部の前記制御信号に応じてガンマ補正信号を生成するガンマ補正回路と、
を備えることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の有機電界発光表示装置。 - 前記第1制御部は、前記第1制御部のオン/オフを制御する第2選択部をさらに備えることを特徴とする請求項5に記載の有機電界発光表示装置。
- 前記第2制御部は、
前記光センサによる感知信号と予め設定された基準値とを比較し、少なくとも3つのモードのいずれか1つを選択する選択信号を出力する比較部と、
前記選択信号に対応して、前記入力映像データの変更の可否を決定する制御部と、
前記制御部から送信される前記入力映像データに対応して、画素彩度データを生成する第1演算部と、
前記画素彩度データ及び前記選択信号に対応して、変更データを抽出する第2演算部と、
前記制御部から送信される前記入力映像データ、または前記第2演算部から供給される前記変更データを格納するメモリと、
を備えることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の有機電界発光表示装置。 - 前記第1演算部により参照される彩度変更マトリクスをさらに含むことを特徴とする請求項7に記載の有機電界発光表示装置。
- 前記第1演算部は、前記入力映像データに含まれた副画素毎の入力データと、前記彩度変更マトリクスとの演算を行い、副画素毎の目標彩度データを算出し、これを用いて前記画素彩度データを生成することを特徴とする請求項8に記載の有機電界発光表示装置。
- 前記第2演算部により参照され、第1彩度及び輝度ルックアップテーブルと、第2彩度及び輝度ルックアップテーブルとを含む基準ルックアップテーブル部をさらに備えることを特徴とする請求項7に記載の有機電界発光表示装置。
- 前記第2演算部は、前記画素彩度データ及び前記選択信号に対応して、前記第1彩度及び輝度ルックアップテーブルと、第2彩度及び輝度ルックアップテーブルとのいずれか1つを選択し、選択されたルックアップテーブルから前記変更データを抽出することを特徴とする請求項10に記載の有機電界発光表示装置。
- 前記第3制御部は、
最初に入力される映像データを分析する映像分析部と、
前記入力映像データの分析による前記入力映像の特性の抽出、及び当該抽出された特性により、前記入力映像データを低減させるスケーリング係数を求めるスケーリング係数計算部と、
各画素に対応する映像データのレベルを全体的に下げる強度リスケール部と、
を備えることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の有機電界発光表示装置。 - 前記スケーリング係数計算部には、スケーリング係数計算時、スケール強度を決定するパラメータ値が格納されたパラメータテーブルが含まれることを特徴とする請求項12に記載の有機電界発光表示装置。
- 前記強度リスケール部の出力値が低電力駆動制御部の最終出力に反映されるか否かが選択される選択部をさらに備えることを特徴とする請求項12に記載の有機電界発光表示装置。
- 前記映像分析部は、入力映像データの輝度成分を抽出してヒストグラムを生成することを特徴とする請求項12に記載の有機電界発光表示装置。
- 前記生成されたヒストグラム情報は、前記強度リスケール部及びスケーリング係数計算部に提供されることを特徴とする請求項15に記載の有機電界発光表示装置。
- 前記強度リスケール部は、前記ヒストグラムの分布形状により、これを基に映像全体の強度をリスケールし、前記スケーリング係数計算部は、前記ヒストグラムの分布形状により、これを基にそれぞれのスケーリング係数に影響を与えるパラメータ選択のソースとして用いることを特徴とする請求項16に記載の有機電界発光表示装置。
- 前記第4制御部は、
1フレームの期間に入力されるビデオデータを合算してフレームデータを生成するデータ合算部と、
前記フレームデータの大きさにより、前記画素部の輝度調節に関する情報を格納するルックアップテーブルと、
前記ルックアップテーブルに格納された情報により輝度制御信号を出力し、前記発光制御信号の発光期間と非発光期間との比率を調節する輝度制御駆動部と、
を備えることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の有機電界発光表示装置。 - 前記ルックアップテーブルは、直前のフレームに関する情報を基準として現在のフレームに適用することを特徴とする請求項18に記載の有機電界発光表示装置。
- 前記フレームデータの大きさにより、前記画素部の発光期間と非発光期間との比率が決定されることを特徴とする請求項18に記載の有機電界発光表示装置。
