Abstract
【解決手段】モノマー及び架橋剤を共存させた状態で重合を開始し、モノマーの重合が30%以上進行後に、さらに架橋剤を重合反応液へ加えて重合する架橋ポリマーの製造方法。この架橋ポリマーを紙料に添加する工程を含む紙および板紙の製造方法。

Description
本発明はこのような知見に基いて完成されたものであり、以下を要旨とする。
2)架橋剤を重合初期に添加した場合、架橋剤量の増加によって、得られるポリマーは、塩粘度が低下することから、架橋点が増加し、ポリマーの広がりが制限されると推定される。
3)これに対して、架橋剤を一定以上の重合点で添加すると、2)に反し、塩粘度の上昇が見られる。これは、架橋剤添加前に生成したポリマーとは別に、高架橋のポリマーが生成することで、先に出来たポリマーとの絡み合いが増すことによるものと推定される。
4)このようなことから、重合初期に架橋剤を含み、かつ、一定以上の重合率が達成された後で架橋剤を追加添加した場合、重合初期の架橋剤によるシェアへの耐性と、重合後段で追加添加された架橋剤によるポリマー同士の絡み合い度上昇の相乗効果により、歩留効果が飛躍的に増すものと推定される。
本発明においては、モノマー及び架橋剤を共存させた状態で重合を開始し、モノマーの重合が30%以上進行後に、さらに架橋剤を重合反応液へ加えて重合することにより、架橋ポリマーを製造する。
重合開始時にモノマーと共存させる架橋剤量は架橋剤の合計添加量の10〜50重量%で、追加添加する架橋剤量は、架橋剤の合計添加量の50〜90重量%であることが好ましい。
カチオン性モノマー:ノニオン性モノマー=10:90〜90:10(モル比)で、架橋剤を全モノマーに対して0.6〜100ppm添加する。
また、カオチン性モノマーを含まない場合には例えば次のような組み合わせが挙げられる。
アニオン性モノマー:ノニオン性モノマー=5:95〜50:50(モル比)で、架橋剤を全モノマーに対して0.6〜100ppm添加する。
さらには、カオチン性モノマーとアニオン性モノマーの両方を含んだ次のような両性の組み合わせもある。
カチオン性モノマー:アニオン性モノマー:ノニオン性モノマー=5:50:45〜80:5:15(モル比)で、架橋剤を全モノマーに対して0.6〜100ppm添加する。
鉱物油およびそれらの精製品であるn-パラフィン、イソパラフィン、ナフテン油などが使用できる。さらには、それらと同等の性状を有する合成油、植物油、動物油またはそれらの混合物も使用できる。
その中でも、HLBで2〜15のものが好ましく、ソルビタン脂肪酸エステルでは、ソルビタンモノオレート、ソルビタンモノステアレート、ソルビタンセスキオレート、ソルビタンモノパルミテート、ポリオキシエチレンソルビタンモノオレート等がある。
分散油に溶解する界面活性剤の濃度はモノマー水溶液と分散油との比率により変化するが、概ね1〜40%である。
モノマー水溶液と分散油との容積比率は前者を1とした場合、分散油の比率は0.1〜
5.0であり、この比率が低くなると油中水滴エマルションの粘度は高くなり、逆に高くなると粘度は低くなる。好ましくは分散油の比率は0.2〜4である。モノマー水溶液を分散油中に分散する方法はホモミキサー、ホモジナイザー等の通常の乳化機を使用すればよい。
さらに、工場廃水中の懸濁物質を凝集除去する際に使用する凝結剤や凝集剤としても使用可能である。
アクリロイルオキシエチルトリメチルアンモニウムクロリド(DAA)(分子量193.5)15モル、アクリルアミド(AAm)(分子量71)85モル組成のモノマー濃度50%のモノマー水溶液1kgに、アゾ系開始剤(2、2‘−アゾビス(2−アミジノプロパン)二塩酸塩2.0gを添加溶解した。また、架橋剤としてN,N’−メチレンビスアクリルアミド(MBA)(分子量140)を用い、この架橋剤を重合開始時に、仕込みモノマー量に対して表1に示す添加量になるように添加した。一方、流動点−30℃のナフテン油1kgにソルビタンモノオレート10g添加溶解した。そこに上記したモノマー水溶液を添加し、ホモジナイザーにより乳化し、窒素ガスを流しながら50℃に昇温し、重合を開始した。重合開始後、表1に示す重合率の時点で仕込みモノマー量に対して各々表1に示す添加量になるように再度架橋剤を添加して共重合することにより、各ポリマーを製造した(ただし、ポリマーFでは架橋剤添加せず。ポリマーG〜Jにおいては、架橋剤を重合開始時又は重合開始後のいずれかに添加)。また、ポリマー製造後、ポリエチレングリコールモノステアレート10gを添加し、製品とした。
カナディアン・スタンダード・フリーネス(CSF)350mLに叩解した新聞故紙を絶乾重量が0.6重量%になるように添加した後、これに軽質炭酸カルシウム(タマパールTP121、奥多摩工業社製)を40重量%(対絶乾紙料)になるように加えたものを試料とした。
この試料1000mLを歩留試験装置「DFS−03(ダイナミック フィルトレーション システム、ミューテック社)」に投入し、硫酸アルミニウムを1.0重量%(対絶乾紙料)添加し、30秒後に表2に示すポリマーを添加し、35秒撹拌後に濾過を開始し、濾液を採取した。
なお、DFSの設定条件は、ミューテック社の推奨方法を用いた。
上記歩留試験結果を表2に示す。なお表2には、ポリマー無添加の場合の試験結果もブランクとして併記した。
実施例1〜9と同様に調整した試料を用いたこと以外は実施例1と同様の方法で歩留試験を行い、結果を表3に示した。
表3より明らかなように、本発明の架橋ポリマーを用いた実施例10〜15は、比較例15〜23よりも、添加量に対するSS、灰分歩留率が上昇した。
Claims (6)
- モノマー及び架橋剤を共存させた状態で重合を開始し、モノマーの重合が30%以上進行後に、さらに架橋剤を重合反応液へ加えて重合することを特徴とする架橋ポリマーの製造方法。
- 請求項1において、重合開始時にモノマーと共存させる架橋剤量が、仕込みモノマー量に対して0.1〜50ppmであり、モノマーの重合が30%以上進行後に添加する架橋剤量が仕込みモノマー量に対して0.5〜50ppmであることを特徴とする架橋ポリマーの製造方法。
- 請求項1又は2において、モノマーの重合が60%以上進行後に架橋剤を前記重合反応液に添加することを特徴とする架橋ポリマーの製造方法。
- 請求項1ないし3のいずれか1項に記載の架橋ポリマーの製造を油中に分散した状態で行うことを特徴とする架橋ポリマーの製造方法。
- 請求項1ないし4のいずれか1項に記載の架橋ポリマーの製造方法により製造された架橋ポリマー。
- 請求項5に記載の架橋ポリマーを紙料に添加する工程を含むことを特徴とする紙および板紙の製造方法。
