Description
維持される必要のある最適の燃料対空気混合物があることが知られている。1対20の燃料対空気混合物は濃すぎるようでその結果燃料内に受け入れられない割合の炭化水素が出来、適切に燃焼せず 燃料効率が減少する。1対40の混合は今日の触媒式排気ガス浄化装置(CATs)には稀薄すぎてEPA(環境保護庁)排出ガス基準で禁止されている窒素酸化物の排出を引き起こす。約1対30の燃料対空気混合物は車両で使用されている現行のガソリン・エンジンにとってほぼ最適であり、本発明の一つの目的は実質的に例えば1対30の範囲内に燃料対空気混合比を維持するために燃料対空気混合物を制御することである。
再び好適な実施例において、或る量の液体燃料例えば1ガロン(3.8l)の燃料が気化タンクに注入される。該燃料は例えばタンクの下半分を占め、加熱要素と温度センサーが同タンクの燃料収容部分に備えられる。温度が設定され、例えば74度に保持されるとその温度は燃料の気化を引き起こし、その蒸気は液体面からタンクの上半分に上昇する。このタンク内には、上半分には外気入口と気化燃料出口とがある。一連の調整板が空気を前記入口から前記液体の表面を横切って外側の第一導管に接続されている出口に案内する。外気温度は液体上を移動することにより安定化し、その過程において上昇する燃料蒸気と混合する。出口を通り第一導管の中に吐き出されるとき、それはこれまで暗示されて来たそしてこれはおそらくより正確に濃縮燃料空気混合物と認められる気化燃料となる。外気の二次源は第二導管を通って運ばれ、第一導管の気化燃料と合流する。空気と気化燃料との合流に先立ち、第一及び第二導管の夫々か選択したどちらかに制御バルブが備えられ、該制御バルブは第三導管又は連続導管(混合室とも言われる)内で混合され続いて該混合がエンジンの吸入マニフォールドに運ばれる外気と気化燃料の量を変えるために各導管からの流量を制御する。
導管18は混合室30に進む外気量を制御するバルブ28を有する。
Claims (8)
- 燃料を燃焼させる燃焼室と燃焼された燃料の排気装置とを含むガソリン給油エンジン用の燃料供給装置であって、
該装置は、ある量の液体ガソリン燃料を収容された気化タンクと、同燃料を加熱する加熱源と、同タンク内に収容された液体ガソリン燃料の温度を制御するための温度制御装置とを備え;
前記温度制御装置は該液体表面から上る同燃料の気化を引き起こすために液体ガソリン燃料の温度を維持し、導管配列が同タンクから気化ガソリン燃料を運び、外気の一次源が前記導管配列により運ばれた該気化ガソリン燃料と混合し、前記導管配列は相互混合した外気と気化燃料とを燃焼用にエンジンに運び;かつ、
排気ガスを所望の炭化水素レベルに維持するためにエンジン排気ガスを監視し前記外気と気化ガソリン燃料との相互混合を制御する自動制御装置を備える、燃料供給装置。 - 請求項1に画定された燃料供給装置であって、外気の二次源は前記タンク内に導かれそこを通って濃縮した気化空気燃料混合物を前記導管に集めて運び、その後外気の一次源と一体化する、燃料供給装置。
- 請求項2に画定された燃料供給装置であって、外気の一次源と、濃縮した気化ガソリン燃料と空気の混合物との一方又は両方にバルブが備えられ、この一方又は両方のバルブは前記一次外気と、気化ガソリン燃料と空気の混合物との相互混合を制御する、燃料供給装置。
- 請求項3に画定された燃料供給装置であって、前記制御装置は、前記排気ガス内の炭化水素の存在を決定するため前記エンジンの燃焼排気ガスを検知するセンサーを備え、前記バルブは前記相互混合を修正しそれにより前記排気ガス内に所望の炭化水素の含有量を維持するために前記センサーに応答する、燃料供給装置。
- 請求項4に画定された燃料供給装置であって、前記センサーは酸素ガス(O2 )放出を検知し、前記制御装置は該酸素ガス(O2 )放出に基づき炭化水素を決定する燃料供給装置。
- 請求項2に画定された燃料供給装置であって、タンク内の調整板配列は前記空気が気化燃料を集めて運ぶとき前記空気の温度を安定化させるために前記二次源からの空気を液体燃料の表面の上方に導く燃料供給装置。
- 請求項1に画定された燃料供給装置であって、前記燃料供給装置は前記エンジンへの交替の燃料源として備えられる燃料供給装置。
- 請求項7に画定された燃料供給装置であって、気化するとき燃料は残留燃料部分を生み出し、制御装置は気化燃料又は液体燃料を燃焼室に選択的に提供し、前記残留燃料は液体燃料として前記燃焼室に運ばれる、燃料供給装置。
