Abstract
【解決手段】非磁性絶縁層の上に、記録媒体との対向面に露出するポールストレート部と該ポールストレート部からハイト方向奥側に向かってトラック幅方向に広がるフレア部とを有する主磁極層を備えた垂直磁気記録ヘッドにおいて、ポールストレート部は、その全長に渡って、記録媒体との対向面から見た形状を非磁性絶縁層側で幅狭の台形形状とし、フレア部は、少なくともポールストレート部との接続部において、記録媒体との対向面から見た形状を非磁性絶縁層側で幅狭の台形形状とする。

Claims (3)
- 非磁性層の上に、記録媒体との対向面に露出するポールストレート部と該ポールストレート部からハイト方向奥側に向かってトラック幅方向に広がるフレア部とを有する主磁極層を備え、記録媒体との対向面には前記非磁性層を挟んで前記主磁極層と対向するリターンパス層が露出している垂直磁気ヘッドにおいて、
この主磁極層のポールストレート部は、その全長に渡って、記録媒体との対向面から見た形状が前記非磁性層側で幅狭の台形形状をなし、
前記フレア部は、少なくとも前記ポールストレート部との接続部において、記録媒体との対向面から見た形状が前記非磁性層側で幅狭の台形形状をなしていることを特徴とする垂直磁気記録ヘッド。 - 請求項1記載の垂直磁気記録ヘッドにおいて、前記フレア部は、前記ポールストレート部との接続部において該ポールストレート部の台形形状と同一の断面形状を有している垂直磁気記録ヘッド。
- 請求項1または2記載の垂直磁気記録ヘッドにおいて、前記フレア部の台形形状は、前記ポールストレート部との接続部からハイト方向奥側に向かって、その台形の長底辺の長さと短底辺の長さの比が1に等しくなるように変化している垂直磁気記録ヘッド。
