Abstract
【解決手段】酸素過剰のもとでアンモニアにより排気ガス中のNOxを還元するのに適した触媒22を機関排気通路内に配置する。触媒22に流量添加弁33から尿素水溶液を供給し、触媒に供給された尿素の一部を触媒内に貯蔵すると共に触媒内に貯蔵されている尿素から発生したアンモニアにより排気ガス中のNOxを還元する。機関始動時、冷間運転時、HC増量時には触媒22への流入排気中のホルムアルデヒド量が許容量を越えていると判断し、このとき触媒22への尿素の供給を禁止する。

Claims (8)
- 酸素過剰のもとでアンモニアにより排気ガス中のNOxを還元するのに適した触媒を機関排気通路内に配置し、該触媒にアンモニア発生化合物を供給するための供給手段と、該アンモニア発生化合物の供給量を制御するための供給制御手段とを具備し、該触媒は、触媒に供給された該アンモニア発生化合物の少なくとも一部を触媒内に貯蔵すると共に該触媒内に貯蔵されているアンモニア発生化合物からアンモニアを生成して該生成したアンモニアにより排気ガス中のNOxを還元する機能を有し、前記触媒に流入する排気ガス中の排気浄化阻害物質量が許容量よりも多いか否かを判断する判断手段を更に具備し、該排気浄化阻害物質はアンモニア発生化合物又はそれに由来する物質と反応することにより排気浄化作用を阻害し、前記供給制御手段は、前記触媒に流入する排気ガス中の排気浄化阻害物質量が許容量よりも多いと判断されたときに触媒に供給されるアンモニア発生化合物の量を減量するようにした内燃機関の排気浄化装置。
- 前記供給制御手段は、前記触媒に流入する排気ガス中の排気浄化阻害物質量が許容量よりも多いと判断されたときに触媒へのアンモニア発生化合物の供給を禁止するようにした請求項1に記載の内燃機関の排気浄化装置。
- 前記判断手段は、機関始動時に前記触媒に流入する排気ガス中の排気浄化阻害物質量が許容量よりも多いと判断する請求項1に記載の内燃機関の排気浄化装置。
- 前記判断手段は、冷間運転時に前記触媒に流入する排気ガス中の排気浄化阻害物質量が許容量よりも多いと判断する請求項1に記載の内燃機関の排気浄化装置。
- 排気ガス中に含まれる炭化水素を一時的に増量させるための炭化水素増量手段が前記触媒上流の排気通路内又は燃焼室内に配置されており、前記判断手段は、炭化水素増量手段によりから排気ガス中に含まれる炭化水素が一時的に増量されているときに前記触媒に流入する排気ガス中の排気浄化阻害物質量が許容量よりも多いと判断する請求項1に記載の内燃機関の排気浄化装置。
- 前記触媒上流の排気通路内に炭化水素を酸化する機能を有する別の触媒が配置されており、前記判断手段は、該別の触媒が活性化していないときに前記触媒に流入する排気ガス中の排気浄化阻害物質量が許容量よりも多いと判断する請求項1に記載の内燃機関の排気浄化装置。
- 前記アンモニア発生化合物を尿素から構成した請求項1に記載の内燃機関の排気浄化装置。
- 前記排気浄化阻害物質が、ホルムアルデヒド、炭化水素、一酸化炭素のうちから選ばれた少なくとも1つである請求項1に記載の内燃機関の排気浄化装置。
