Abstract
【解決手段】電圧制御発振器100は、バイポーラトランジスタからなる能動素子104、チップ形態での実装が可能なマルチモード結合共振器120、遅波結合共振器124、進行波結合共振器128、ノイズフィルタリング回路網108、ノイズ除去回路網112、ノイズフィードバック・DCバイアス回路116及び位相補償回路網132等により構成されている。これらの構成により、広帯域線形同調レンジを実現しつつ位相ノイズを最小化し、動作周波数帯域全体にわたって均一な出力パワーと改善された高次高調波の遮断が実現できる。

Description
本願は2005年11月15日に出願された米国仮特許出願第60/736,901号に基づく優先的権利を主張するものであり、その開示内容を参照することにより本明細書の一部をなすものとする。
一般に、本発明は、同調帯域上で比較的低く均一な位相ノイズを維持しながらかなり幅広い周波数レンジ(例えばマルチオクターブ帯域)にわたって動作するよう調整することができる、ユーザ指定可能であり低コストで電力効率の高い電圧制御発振器(VCO:voltage controlled oscillator)に関する。
Claims (21)
- ベース端子、エミッタ端子およびコレクタ端子を有するトランジスタと、
動的に調整可能な容量性素子を介して前記ベース端子と前記コレクタ端子とに跨って結合したマルチモード結合共振器と、
前記コレクタ端子に直列に結合した遅波結合共振器および進行波結合共振器と
を含んでなる、ある発振周波数で動作可能な発振器。 - 前記ベース端子と前記コレクタ端子とに跨って結合したノイズフィルタリング回路網を更に含む請求項1に記載の発振器。
- 前記ベース端子と前記コレクタ端子とに跨って結合したノイズ除去回路網を更に含む請求項1に記載の発振器。
- 前記ベース端子と前記コレクタ端子とに跨って結合したノイズフィードバック・バイアス回路網を更に含む請求項1に記載の発振器。
- 前記ベース端子と前記コレクタ端子との間に前記遅波結合共振器および前記進行波結合共振器を介して容量結合した位相補償回路網を更に含む請求項1に記載の発振器。
- 前記遅波結合共振器と前記進行波結合共振器との間に結合した分散結合媒体を更に含む請求項1に記載の発振器。
- 前記マルチモード結合共振器は電磁結合共振器で構成されている請求項1に記載の発振器。
- 前記電磁結合共振器は少なくとも2つの平面結合共振器により構成されている請求項7に記載の発振器。
- 前記少なくとも2つの平面結合共振器を跨ぐ有効結合はユーザ選択可能な周波数帯域を提供するよう動的に調節することができるものである請求項8に記載の発振器。
- 前記マルチモード結合共振器に結合しており当該発振器の発振周波数を調整する働きをする同調回路網を更に含む請求項1に記載の発振器。
- プリント基板上に実装されている請求項1に記載の発振器。
- 第1の端子、第2の端子および第3の端子を有するトランジスタと、
前記第3の端子に結合したデュアルモード電磁結合共振器と、
前記デュアルモード電磁結合共振器を跨いで結合されており、発振器の発振周波数を調整する可変コンデンサとして働く少なくとも2つのチューニングダイオードと
を含んでなる、ある発振周波数を有する電圧制御発振器。 - 前記デュアルモード電磁結合共振器は、1対の誘導結合した分散伝送線路で構成されている請求項12に記載の電圧制御発振器。
- 前記デュアルモード電磁結合共振器は、マイクロストリップ線路結合共振器により構成されている請求項12に記載の電圧制御発振器。
- 前記デュアルモード電磁結合共振器は、ストリップ線路結合共振器により構成されている請求項12に記載の電圧制御発振器。
- 前記トランジスタは、前記第1、第2および第3の端子をなすベース、コレクタおよびエミッタ端子をそれぞれ有する並列エミッタ構成のバイポーラトランジスタにより構成されている請求項12に記載の電圧制御発振器。
- 動的に調整されるフィルタを介して結合した出力ポートを更に含む請求項12に記載の電圧制御発振器。
- 情報を送受信するためのモジュールと、
前記モジュールに結合したマルチオクターブ帯域チューナブル発振器と
を含んでなる通信装置であって、
前記マルチオクターブ帯域チューナブル発振器は、
第1の端子、第2の端子および第3の端子を有するトランジスタと、
相互にそして前記トランジスタに電磁結合した複数の平面共振器と、
前記トランジスタに結合しており、前記トランジスタに実質上一定のバイアス電圧を印加する働きをする能動バイアス回路網と
を含むものである通信装置。 - 周波数合成器、スペクトル解析器、電話機、個人用携帯情報端末、デスクトップ型コンピュータおよびラップトップ型コンピュータから成るグループから選択されたものである請求項18に記載の通信装置。
- 前記トランジスタの第1の端子、第2の端子および第3の端子は、バイポーラトランジスタのベース端子、コレクタ端子およびエミッタ端子をそれぞれ成しており、前記複数の平面共振器は、動的に調整可能な容量性素子を介して前記ベース端子と前記コレクタ端子とに跨って結合したマルチモード結合共振器と、前記コレクタ端子に直列に結合した進行波結合共振器および遅波結合共振器とを含むものである請求項18に記載の通信装置。
- 前記複数の平面共振器は、前記第3の端子に結合したデュアルモード電磁結合共振器と、前記デュアルモード電磁結合共振器を跨いで結合されており、前記発振器の発振周波数を調整する可変コンデンサとして働く少なくとも2つのチューニングダイオードとを含むものである請求項18に記載の通信装置。
