Abstract
【解決手段】制御手段5は、第1及び第4のスイッチング素子Q1,Q4をオンすると同時に第2及び第3のスイッチング素子Q2,Q3をオフする期間と、第1及び第4のスイッチング素子Q1,Q4をオフすると同時に第2及び第3のスイッチング素子Q2,Q3をオンする期間とを周期的に切り換えることで有機EL素子に矩形波電圧を印加する。制御手段5が矩形波電圧の周波数を変化させることで有機EL素子1に流れる電流の実効値Irmが変化して調光できる。故に直流電源手段3の出力を変えて調光する場合に比較して直流電源手段3の回路構成が簡単で済み、また、従来例のように順方向電圧の印加期間を変化させるようにオンデューティ比を制御する場合に比較して制御手段5の回路構成が簡単になる。

Description
本実施形態の照明装置は、図1に示すように有機EL素子1と点灯装置2とで構成される。点灯装置2は、有機EL素子1の駆動電圧に略等しい直流電圧を出力する直流電源手段3と、直流電源手段3から出力する直流電圧の極性を周期的に反転させた矩形波電圧を有機EL素子1に印加する極性反転手段4と、極性反転手段4を制御して矩形波電圧の周波数を変化させることで有機EL素子1の光出力を調整する制御手段5とを備える。
本実施形態は、図6に示すように制御手段5’が有機EL素子1に流れる電流を検出し、当該検出値が目標とする電流値と一致するように極性反転手段4’を制御して矩形波電圧の周波数を変化させる点に特徴がある。但し、基本的な構成は実施形態1と共通であるから、機能的に共通の構成要素には同一の番号に’を付して説明を省略する。

Claims (3)
- 有機EL(エレクトロルミネセンス)素子を点灯する点灯装置であって、有機EL素子の駆動電圧に略等しい直流電圧を出力する直流電源手段と、直流電源手段から出力する直流電圧の極性を周期的に反転させた矩形波電圧を有機EL素子に印加する極性反転手段と、極性反転手段を制御して矩形波電圧の周波数を変化させることで有機EL素子の光出力を調整する制御手段とを備えたことを特徴とする点灯装置。
- 制御手段は、有機EL素子に流れる電流を検出し、当該検出値が目標とする電流値と一致するように矩形波電圧の周波数を変化させることを特徴とする請求項1記載の点灯装置。
- 有機EL素子と、請求項1または2記載の点灯装置とを有することを特徴とする照明装置。
