Abstract
【解決手段】 帯状の芯材1をその長手方向に走行させつつその両面に電極合剤ペースト5を塗布し、電極合剤ペースト5が塗布された芯材1を一対の掻き落し治具16a、16b間の隙間に通して電極合剤ペースト5の塗布厚を調整し、かつ掻き落し治具16a、16bに設けたチップ18にて電極合剤ペースト5を掻き落して所要幅の合剤塗布部を形成するとともに、チップ18の芯材走行方向上手側に形成した凹溝19を通してチップ18で掻き落とした電極合剤ペースト5を還流させ、合剤塗布部の両側端部での塗布厚の増大化現象の発生を抑制するようにした。

Description
組成式MmNi3.55Co0.75Mn0.4 Al0.3 で表される水素吸蔵合金を湿式ボールミルにより水中で平均粒径30μmに粉砕して水素吸蔵合金粉末を得た。この水素吸蔵合金粉末をアルカリ水溶液に浸漬して表面処理した後、この水素吸蔵合金粉末100kgに対し、固形分比1.5%のカルボキシメチルセルロース水溶液10kg及びケッチェンブラック0.4kgを加えて混練し、さらに固形分比40%のスチレン−ブタジエン共重合体ゴム粒子の水溶液1.75kgを加えて攪拌することにより、電極合剤ペーストを作製した。
実施例1に対し、凹溝19の側端のチップ18の側端からの突出量pを、−0.2w(実施例2)、−0.1(実施例3)、0.5w(実施例4)、0.6w(実施例5)とした以外は、実施例1と同様に電極合剤ペースト5を塗布した。
実施例1に対し、凹溝19を設けなかった以外は、実施例1と同様に電極合剤ペースト5を塗布した。実施例1と同様にドッグボーン度合を評価した結果、合剤塗布部の中心に対する塗布部側端部の厚みの比は、1.27であった。

Claims (6)
- 帯状の芯材をその長手方向に走行させつつその両面に電極合剤ペーストを塗布する塗布工程と、電極合剤ペーストが塗布された芯材を一対の掻き落し治具間の隙間に通して電極合剤ペーストの塗布厚を調整し、かつ掻き落し治具に設けたチップにて電極合剤ペーストを掻き落して所要幅の合剤塗布部を形成するとともに、チップの芯材走行方向上手側に形成した凹溝を通してチップで掻き落とした電極合剤ペーストを還流させる塗布厚・塗布幅調整工程とを備えたことを特徴とする電極合剤ペーストの塗布方法。
- 掻き落し治具は芯材の両側部を含めて少なくとも3個のチップを具備し、合剤塗布部を芯材幅方向に複数条形成することを特徴とする請求項1記載の電極合剤ペーストの塗布方法。
- チップの幅wが、2〜10mmで、そのチップの側端からの凹溝の側端の突出量pが、−0.1w〜0.5wであることを特徴とする請求項1又は2記載の電極合剤ペーストの塗布方法。
- コイル状に巻かれた芯材を巻き出すアンコイラー部と、芯材を浸漬してその両面に電極合剤ペーストを塗布する塗布部と、電極合剤ペーストの塗布厚及び塗布幅を調整する塗布厚・塗布幅調整部と、電極合剤ペーストを乾燥する乾燥部と、電極合剤ペーストが塗布され乾燥された芯材をコイル状に巻き取るコイラー部とを備え、塗布厚・塗布幅調整部は、電極合剤ペーストが塗布された芯材を両者間の隙間に通して塗布厚を調整する一対の掻き落し治具に、塗布幅の端で電極合剤ペーストを掻き落すチップを設けるとともに、チップから芯材走行方向上手側に向けて凹溝を形成したことを特徴とする電極合剤ペーストの塗布装置。
- 掻き落し治具は芯材の両側部を含めて少なくとも3個のチップを備えていることを特徴とする請求項4記載の電極合剤ペーストの塗布装置。
- チップの幅wが、2〜10mmで、そのチップの側端からの凹溝の側端の突出量pが、−0.1w〜0.5wであることを特徴とする請求項4又は5に記載の電極合剤ペーストの塗布装置。
