Abstract
【解決手段】トナー組成物は、実質的に架橋されていない樹脂、架橋樹脂、ワックス、凝集剤および着色剤を含み、約1〜約20光沢単位の溶融画像光沢を有する。前記トナー組成物において、単位面積約0.52mg/cm2当りのトナー質量において約1.60以上の透過光学濃度を有することが望ましい。また前記トナー組成物の全重量に対して、実質的に架橋されていない樹脂を約68重量%〜約75重量%、架橋樹脂を約6重量%〜約13重量%、ワックスを約6重量%〜約15重量%、着色剤を約7重量%〜約13重量%で含み、前記各成分の合計が約100重量%であることが望ましい。

Description
特に1分間当たり150頁ないし180頁の高速印刷においては、低い最低定着温度、広い溶融温度範囲、離型性、低光沢性、粒子の頑強さ、摩擦帯電性、現像性などの特性がトナーに望まれる。
固形分含有量が41.4重量%の上記の非架橋樹脂191.4gおよび固形分含有量が30.07重量%のポリエチレンワックスエマルション(ポリワックス(Polywax)850(登録商標))55.22gを、容器の中の脱イオン水478.6gに添加し、4,000RPM(毎分の回転)で運転するIKAウルトラタラックス(Ultra Turrax(登録商標))T50ホモジナイザーを使用して攪拌した。その後、17重量%の固形分含有量を有する、サンピグメント(Sun Pigment)WA 1945(リーガル(Regal(登録商標))330)のカーボンブラック顔料分散体113.512g、24重量%の固形分含有量を有する非架橋樹脂またはゲル75gおよび1重量%の塩化カルシウム溶液9.91gを上記混合物に添加し、次いで、ポリ塩化アルミニウム混合物3.06gおよび0.02モル(M)硝酸溶液27.54gを含む綿状混合物30.6gを滴状添加した。綿状混合物が滴状添加されるにつれて、ホモジナイザー速度を5,200RPMまで増加し、更に5分間均質化した。その後、混合物を毎分1℃で49℃の温度まで加熱し、コールターカウンター(Coulter Counter)で測定して5ミクロンの体積平均粒径を得るためにそこに約1.5〜約2時間の間保持した。加熱期間の間、攪拌を約250RPMで10分行い、49℃の設定温度を達成した後、攪拌速度は約220RPMまで減速した。追加の上記架橋樹脂またはゲル124.6gを反応器混合物に添加し、約5.7ミクロンの体積平均粒径を得るために、49℃で更に約30分間凝集させた。反応器混合物を、1.0M水酸化ナトリウム溶液でpH7に調整し、粒径を固定した。その後、反応混合物を、毎分1℃の速度で95℃の温度まで加熱し、次いで、反応混合物を0.3M硝酸溶液でpH3.7まで調整した。この後、反応混合物を95℃で5時間穏やかに攪拌して粒子を合体させ球状化させた。次いで、反応器ヒーターを切り、反応混合物を毎分1℃の速度で室温まで冷却した。得られたトナー混合物は、トナー約16.7重量%、アニオン性界面活性剤0.25重量%および水約82.9重量%を含んでいた。この混合物のトナーは、スチレン/アクリレートポリマー約71%、上記非架橋樹脂またはゲル約10重量%、リーガル(登録商標)330ブラック顔料約10%、ポリエチレン(ポリワックス(登録商標)PW850)ワックス約9重量%および塩化カルシウム約150ppmを含んでいた。トナーは、約5.7ミクロンの体積平均粒径および約1.19のGSD(粒径分布)を有していた。粒子は6回洗浄され、最初の洗浄は、約63℃でpH約10で行い、次いで、3回の洗浄を室温で脱イオン水で行い、次いで、1回の洗浄を約40℃でpH約4.0で行い、最後の洗浄は、室温で脱イオン水で行った。
固形分含有量が41.4重量%の上記の非架橋樹脂253.7gおよび固形分含有量が30重量%の、EAQax−51ポリエチレンワックスエマルション(ポリワックス(登録商標)725)54.80gを、容器の中の脱イオン水555.2gに添加し、4,000RPM(毎分の回転)で運転するIKAウルトラタラックスT50(登録商標)ホモジナイザーを使用して攪拌した。その後、固形分含有量が17重量%のブラック顔料分散体(サンピグメント WA 1945、リーガル(登録商標)330)68.10gを上記混合物に添加し、次いで、ポリ塩化アルミニウム混合物2.16gおよび0.02モル硝酸溶液1944gを含む綿状混合物21.6gを滴状添加した。綿状混合物が滴状添加されるにつれて、ホモジナイザー速度を5,200RPMまで増加し、更に5分間均質化した。その後、混合物を毎分1℃で49℃の温度まで加熱し、コールターカウンターで測定して5ミクロンの体積平均粒径を得るために約1.5〜約2時間の間49℃で保持した。加熱期間の間、攪拌を約250RPMで10分行い、49℃の設定温度を達成した後、攪拌速度を約220RPMまで減速した。追加の124.6gの上記非架橋樹脂を反応混合物に添加し、約5.7ミクロンの体積平均粒径を得るために、49℃で更に約30分間凝集させた。1.0M水酸化ナトリウム溶液を反応器混合物に添加してpHを7にして粒径を固定した。その後、反応器混合物を、毎分1℃で95℃の温度まで加熱し、反応器混合物のpHを、0.3M硝酸溶液で3.7に調整した。次いで、反応混合物を95℃で5時間穏やかに攪拌して粒子を合体させ球状化させた。次いで、反応器ヒーターを切り、反応混合物を毎分1℃の速度で室温まで冷却した。得られたトナー混合物は、トナー約16.7重量%、アニオン性界面活性剤0.25重量%および水約82.9重量%を含んでいた。この混合物のトナーは、スチレン/アクリレートポリマー約85%、リーガル(登録商標)330ブラック顔料約6%、ポリエチレン(ポリワックス(登録商標)PW725)ワックス約9重量%を含み、約5.7ミクロンの体積平均粒径および約1.19の粒径分布(GSD)を有していた。粒子を6回洗浄し、最初の洗浄は、63℃でpH10で行い、次いで、3回の洗浄を室温で脱イオン水で行い、1回の洗浄を40℃でpH4.0で行い、最後に、最終洗浄を室温で脱イオン水で行った。
Claims (4)
- 実質的に架橋されていない樹脂、架橋樹脂、ワックス、凝集剤および着色剤を含み、約1〜約20光沢単位の溶融画像光沢を有することを特徴とするトナー組成物。
- 請求項1に記載のトナー組成物であって、単位面積約0.52mg/cm2当りのトナー質量において約1.60以上の透過光学濃度を有することを特徴とするトナー組成物。
- 請求項1に記載のトナー組成物であって、前記組成物の全重量に対して、実質的に架橋されていない樹脂を約68重量%〜約75重量%、架橋樹脂を約6重量%〜約13重量%、ワックスを約6重量%〜約15重量%、着色剤を約7重量%〜約13重量%で含み、前記各成分の合計が約100重量%であることを特徴とするトナー組成物。
- 請求項1に記載のトナー組成物であって、前記実質的に架橋されていない樹脂が未架橋であり、前記着色剤がカーボンブラックであることを特徴とするトナー組成物。
