Claims (17)
- 単一のギャップを有する高反射(R)及び高透過(T)の半透過型液晶ディスプレイ(LCD)の製造方法であって、
単一ギャップのLCDにおいて反射ピクセル(R)の全体のリターデイションΔndが透過ピクセルの全体のリターデイションΔndと略等しくなるように、当該単一ギャップの液晶ディスプレイにおける反射ピクセル(R)の複屈折変化Δnを減少させるステップを有することを特徴とする半透過型液晶ディスプレイの製造方法。 - 前記複屈折変化Δnを減少させるステップは、複屈折変化Δnを約1/2に減少させるステップを含むことを特徴とする請求項1に記載の半透過型液晶ディスプレイの製造方法。
- 前記複屈折変化Δnを減少させるステップは、反射ピクセル(R)における分子の部分的なスイッチングを行うステップを含むことを特徴とする請求項1に記載の半透過型液晶ディスプレイの製造方法。
- 前記部分的なスイッチングは、約45°であることを特徴とする請求項3に記載の半透過型液晶ディスプレイの製造方法。
- 前記部分的なスイッチングを行うステップは、反射ピクセル(R)に対して電場を印加するステップを含むことを特徴とする請求項3に記載の半透過型液晶ディスプレイの製造方法。
- 前記電場を印加するステップは、フリンジフィールドを発生させるステップを含むことを特徴とする請求項5に記載の半透過型液晶ディスプレイの製造方法。
- 前記フリンジフィールドを発生させるステップは、前記単一のセルギャップにおける前記反射ピクセル(R)近傍の不連続な画素電極によってフリンジフィールドを発生させることを特徴とする請求項6に記載の半透過型液晶ディスプレイの製造方法。
- 前記不連続な画素電極は、約10μm未満の幅と、約3μm未満のギャップとを有することを特徴とする請求項7に記載の半透過型液晶ディスプレイの製造方法。
- 前記セルギャップの大きさを増大させるに伴い、前記不連続な電極における幅及びギャップ間隔の範囲を増大させるステップを更に含むことを特徴とする請求項7に記載の半透過型液晶ディスプレイの製造方法。
- 高反射(R)及び高透過(T)の半透過型液晶ディスプレイ(TLCD)であって、
透過ピクセル(T)及び反射ピクセル(R)を備えた単一ギャップの液晶ディスプレイ(LCD)と
単一ギャップLCDにおいて反射ピクセル(R)の全体のリターデイションΔndが透過ピクセルの全体のリターデイションΔndと略等しくなるように、当該単一セルギャップの液晶ディスプレイにおける反射ピクセル(R)の複屈折変化Δnを減少させる手段とを有することを特徴とする半透過型液晶ディスプレイ。 - 前記複屈折変化Δnを減少させる手段は、複屈折変化Δnを約1/2に減少させる手段を含むことを特徴とする請求項10に記載の半透過型液晶ディスプレイ。
- 前記複屈折変化Δnを減少させる手段は、反射ピクセル(R)における分子の部分的なスイッチングを行う手段を含むことを特徴とする請求項10に記載の半透過型液晶ディスプレイ。
- 前記部分的なスイッチングは、約45°であることを特徴とする請求項12に記載の半透過型液晶ディスプレイ。
- 前記部分的なスイッチングを行う手段は、反射ピクセル(R)に対して電場を印加する手段を含むことを特徴とする請求項10に記載の半透過型液晶ディスプレイ。
- 前記電場を印加する手段は、フリンジフィールドを発生させる手段を含むことを特徴とする請求項14に記載の半透過型液晶ディスプレイ。
- 前記単一のセルギャップにおける前記反射ピクセル(R)近傍の不連続な画素電極を更に有することを特徴とする請求項15に記載の半透過型液晶ディスプレイ。
- 前記不連続な画素電極は、約10μm未満の幅と、約3μm未満のギャップとを有することを特徴とする請求項16に記載の半透過型液晶ディスプレイ。
