Abstract
【解決手段】ディーゼルエンジン10は、同エンジン10から排出される微粒子物質を捕集する第2触媒コンバータ33を排気通路14に備える。排気浄化装置11は、排気燃料添加弁31から未燃燃料を排気通路14に供給して、第2触媒コンバータ33に堆積した微粒子物質を燃焼除去することにより同第2触媒コンバータ33を再生させる。排気浄化装置11では、エンジン10の運転状態に基づき第2触媒コンバータ33での微粒子物質の堆積量を推定し、その推定した堆積量に基づき微粒子物質の燃焼除去の終了を予測する。そして、終了の予測後に排気燃料添加弁31から排気通路14に未燃燃料を間欠的に供給する。

Description
請求項1に記載の発明では、内燃機関の排気通路に微粒子物質の捕集器を設け、未燃燃料を前記排気通路に供給して同捕集器に堆積した微粒子物質を燃焼除去することにより同捕集器を再生させるようにした内燃機関の排気浄化装置において、前記微粒子物質の燃焼除去の終了を予測する予測手段と、前記予測手段による予測後に前記排気通路に未燃燃料を供給する予測後供給手段とを備えている。
さらに、エンジン10には、排気の一部を吸気中に再循環させる排気再循環(以下、「EGR」という)装置50が採用されている。EGR装置50は、吸気通路12と排気通路14とを連通させるEGR通路27を備えて構成されている。EGR通路27の上流側は、排気通路14の排気マニホールド26とタービン17Bとの間に接続されている。EGR通路27の途中には、その上流側から順に、再循環される排気を浄化するEGRクーラ触媒28、再循環される排気を冷却するEGRクーラ29、再循環される排気の流量を調整するEGR弁30が配設されている。そしてEGR通路27の下流側は、吸気通路12の吸気絞り弁19と吸気マニホールド20との間に接続されている。

上記式(1)中、右辺の推定堆積量PMsmは、前回の処理時に算出された推定堆積量PMsmである。
タイミングt1よりも前に推定堆積量PMsmが移行判定値BUpmよりも多く、推定堆積量PMsmを補正した履歴がないと、触媒再生制御ルーチンではステップ100→110→120→リターンの順に処理が行われ、通常の触媒再生処理が行われる。排気燃料添加弁31から未燃燃料が連続して添加されて第2触媒コンバータ33に堆積している微粒子物質PMが燃焼され、推定堆積量PMsmが減少する。
(1)微粒子物質PMの燃焼除去を目的として供給される未燃燃料は、第1触媒コンバータ32の上流端に付着しやすい。こうした未燃燃料を完全に燃焼し尽くすことは難しくデポジットとして残る場合がある。このデポジットは第1触媒コンバータ32の反応性を低下させ、第2触媒コンバータ33での微粒子物質PMの燃え残りを誘発する。
・本発明は、ディーゼルエンジンに限らず、希薄燃焼式ガソリンエンジン等について同様な触媒構成を採用した場合にも適用できる。
・第2バーンアップ触媒再生処理(ステップ200)において、燃料供給サイクルの実行回数を差圧ΔPの程度に応じて変更するようにしてもよい。
Claims (8)
- 内燃機関の排気通路に微粒子物質の捕集器を設け、未燃燃料を前記排気通路に供給して同捕集器に堆積した微粒子物質を燃焼除去することにより同捕集器を再生させるようにした内燃機関の排気浄化装置において、
前記微粒子物質の燃焼除去の終了を予測する予測手段と、
前記予測手段による予測後に前記排気通路に未燃燃料を供給する予測後供給手段と
を備えることを特徴とする内燃機関の排気浄化装置。 - 前記内燃機関の運転状態に基づき前記捕集器での微粒子物質の堆積量を推定する堆積量推定手段をさらに備え、
前記予測手段は、前記堆積量推定手段による微粒子物質の堆積量に基づいて、前記微粒子物質の燃焼除去の終了を予測するものである請求項1に記載の内燃機関の排気浄化装置。 - 前記排気通路における前記捕集器よりも上流側の排気圧力と、同捕集器よりも下流側の排気圧力との差圧を検出する差圧検出手段をさらに備え、
前記予測手段は、前記差圧検出手段による差圧に基づいて、前記微粒子物質の燃焼除去の終了を予測するものである請求項1又は2に記載の内燃機関の排気浄化装置。 - 前記排気通路の前記捕集器よりも上流に設けられた排気浄化触媒をさらに備え、前記未燃燃料は前記排気通路の前記排気浄化触媒よりも上流に供給される請求項1〜3のいずれか1つに記載の内燃機関の排気浄化装置。
- 前記未燃燃料は、供給期間及び供給停止期間からなる燃料供給サイクルに基づき間欠的に前記排気通路に供給される請求項1〜4のいずれか1つに記載の内燃機関の排気浄化装置。
- 前記排気通路における前記捕集器よりも上流側の排気圧力と、同捕集器よりも下流側の排気圧力との差圧を検出する差圧検出手段と、
前記予測手段による終了予測時における前記差圧検出手段による差圧と所定値とを比較する比較手段と
をさらに備え、前記予測後供給手段は、前記比較手段による比較結果に応じて排気通路への未燃燃料の供給態様を切り替えるものである請求項1〜5のいずれか1つに記載の内燃機関の排気浄化装置。 - 前記予測後供給手段は、前記比較手段により前記差圧が所定値以上であると判定されたときには、前記捕集器に残存している微粒子物質を燃焼し尽くす燃料量よりもわずかに多い量の未燃燃料を供給する一方、前記差圧が前記所定値未満であると判定されたときには、所定の量の未燃燃料を供給するものである請求項6に記載の内燃機関の排気浄化装置。
- 前記未燃燃料は、供給期間及び供給停止期間からなる燃料供給サイクルに基づき前記排気通路に供給され、
前記予測後供給手段は、前記比較手段により前記差圧が所定値以上であると判定されたときには、前記捕集器に残存している微粒子物質を燃焼し尽くす前記燃料供給サイクルの持続時間よりもわずかに長く前記未燃燃料の供給を持続する一方、前記差圧が前記所定値未満であると判定されたときには、前記燃料供給サイクルを所定回数行うものである請求項6に記載の内燃機関の排気浄化装置。
