【解決手段】吸気側カムシャフト30が、排気側カムシャフト35よりも高位置となるべく、エンジン本体11のシリンダ軸線Cに沿って燃焼室17からの距離を排気側カムシャフト35よりも大とした位置に配置される。

Claims (7)
- エンジン本体(11)の一部を構成するシリンダヘッド(14)に、吸気側カムシャフト(30)を備える吸気側動弁装置(28)で開閉駆動される吸気弁(20)と、排気側カムシャフト(35)を備える排気側動弁装置(33)で開閉駆動される排気弁(21)とが配設されるエンジンにおいて、吸気側カムシャフト(30)が、排気側カムシャフト(35)よりも高位置となるべく、エンジン本体(11)のシリンダ軸線(C)に沿って燃焼室(17)からの距離を排気側カムシャフト(35)よりも大とした位置に配置されることを特徴とするエンジン。
- 吸気側動弁装置(28)は、吸気弁(20)の開弁リフト量を変化させ得るリフト可変機構(32)を備え、排気側動弁装置(33)は、前記排気側カムシャフト(35)と、該排気側カムシャフト(35)に従動して揺動するようにして排気弁(21)に連動、連結される排気側ロッカアーム(36)とを備えることを特徴とする請求項1記載のエンジン。
- 前記エンジン本体(11)が、そのシリンダ軸線(C)を前記排気側動弁装置(33)側に傾斜させる姿勢で配設されることを特徴とする請求項1または2記載のエンジン。
- 前記吸気側カムシャフト(30)の回転方向が、前記排気側動弁装置(33)に対向する側では上向きに回転するように設定されることを特徴とする請求項1〜3のいずれかに記載のエンジン。
- 前記吸気側動弁装置(28)は、吸気側動弁カム(29)を備える吸気側カムシャフト(30)と、前記吸気側動弁カム(29)に当接するカム当接部(50)を有するとともに吸気弁(20)に開弁方向の力を付与するようにして連動、連結される吸気側ロッカアーム(31)と、前記リフト可変機構(32)とで構成され、該リフト可変機構(32)は、前記吸気側ロッカアーム(31)に一端部が回動可能に連結されるとともに他端部がエンジン本体(11)の固定位置に固定支軸(57)を介して回動可能に支承される第1リンクアーム(58)と、吸気側ロッカアーム(31)に一端部が回動可能に連結されるとともに他端部が変位可能な可動支軸(60)で回動可能に支承される第2リンクアーム(59)とを備えることを特徴とする請求項2〜4のいずれかに記載のエンジン。
- 前記固定支軸(57)および可動支軸(60)が、前記吸気側ロッカアーム(31)の吸気弁(20)への連動、連結部よりも内側に配置され、前記排気側動弁装置(33)が備える排気側ロッカアーム(36)の揺動支持部が、排気側ロッカアーム(36)および排気弁(21)の連動、連結部よりも外側に配置されることを特徴とする請求項5記載のエンジン。
- 上方に向かうにつれて排気側動弁装置(33)に近接するように傾斜したプラグ筒(87)が、前記吸気側動弁装置(28)および前記排気側動弁装置(33)間に配置されてシリンダヘッド(14)に取付けられることを特徴とする請求項6記載のエンジン。
