Abstract
【解決手段】本発明では、インクしぶきを低減するため、噴射されたインク滴の形状に着目し、長く伸びるテール部分が原因であることを見出し、オリフィスの開口の形状を改変する。好適には、非円形が好ましく、一実施例では、互いに対向する弧と互いに対向する放物線の部分とを有する開口を設けることで製造容易に著しくインクしぶきを低減した。

Claims (5)
- インクしぶきが低減されてインクが噴射されるオリフィスを含むインクジェット・プリンタ用のプリントヘッドにおいて、
インク噴射器とオリフィスプレートとを含み、
前記オリフィスプレートは、
該オリフィスプレートを貫通しており、該オリフィスプレートの前記インク噴射器側の第1の表面から、該第1の表面に平行な該オリフィスプレートの第2の表面に及ぶ少なくとも1つのオリフィスを有し、
前記オリフィスは、第1の幾何学的形状を有する第1の開口部を前記第2の表面において、および、第2の幾何学的形状を有する第2の開口部を前記第1の表面において含み、
前記第1の開口部は、前記第2の表面と平行な第1の線形寸法と、該第2の表面に平行で前記第1の線形寸法に垂直な第2の線形寸法とを備え、
前記第1の線形寸法は、前記第2の線形寸法より大きく、
前記第1の開口部はさらに、前記第2の表面上のすくなくとも第1および第2の非交差縁と第3および第4の非交差縁とによって画定され、
これら第1、第2の非交差縁は、それぞれの一点間においては前記第2の線形寸法の距離だけ間隔があいており、残りの点間においては前記第2の線形寸法より大きい距離だけ間隔があいている弧であり、
これら第3、第4の非交差縁は、それぞれの一点間においては前記第1の線形寸法の距離だけ間隔があいており、残りの点間においては前記第1の線形寸法以下の距離だけ間隔があいている放物線の部分であり、
前記第1の幾何学的形状と前記第2の幾何学的形状とが一致せず非相似となることを特徴とする、インクジェット・プリンタ用のプリントヘッド。 - 前記オリフィスプレートの前記第1の開口部はさらに、砂時計形状を有する請求項1記載のプリントヘッド。
- インクしぶきが低減された、インクジェット・プリンタ用のプリントヘッドの製造方法において、
第1の表面と、
前記第1の表面と平行である第2の表面と、
オリフィスプレートを貫通して前記第1の表面から前記第2の表面へと及ぶ少なくとも1つのオリフィスと
を有するオリフィスプレートを形成するステップであって、
前記オリフィスは、第1の幾何学的形状を有する第1の開口部を前記第2の表面に、第2の幾何学的形状を有する第2の開口部を前記第1の表面に有し、
前記第1の開口部は、前記第2の表面と平行な第1の線形寸法と、前記第2の表面と平行で前記第1の線形寸法と垂直で前記第1の線形寸法より小さな第2の線形寸法とを有し、
さらに、前記第1の開口部は、それぞれの一点間においては前記第2の線形寸法の距離だけ間隔をおいて配置され、他のすべての点において前記第2の線形寸法よりも大きい距離だけ間隔をおいて配置された、前記第2の表面上の相互に交差しない少なくとも第1および第2の弧と、それぞれの一点間においては前記第1の線形寸法の距離だけ間隔をおいて配置され、他のすべての点において前記第1の線形寸法以下の距離だけ間隔をおいて配置された、前記第2の表面上の相互に交差しない第3、第4の放物線の部分とによって画定され、前記第1の幾何学的形状と前記第2の幾何学的形状とが一致せず非相似となるステップと、
前記オリフィスプレートの前記第1の表面に、前記少なくとも1つのオリフィスの前記開口部からインクを噴射させるインク噴射器を取り付けるステップと
を含むインクジェット・プリンタ用のプリントヘッドの製造方法。 - 前記第1の開口部を砂時計形状に形成するステップをさらに含む請求項3に記載の製造方法。
- 前記取り付けるステップがさらに、前記少なくとも1つのオリフィスと連結した所定のチャンバ形状のインク噴出チャンバを形成するステップをさらに含む請求項3に記載の製造方法。
