Abstract
ず、エレクトロフュージョンの際には、クランプを用い
る必要がなく、かつ、熱融着の際に熱可塑性樹脂管が変
形し難い、新規な熱可塑性樹脂管の熱融着接合補助材を
提供する。 【解決手段】 溶融成型できる水溶性樹脂からなる筒状
部を有する熱可塑性樹脂管の熱融着接合補助材20。2
つの熱可塑性樹脂管12、14の対向する端部を熱融着
により接合する際に、接合部の内側に溶融成型できる水
溶性樹脂からなる筒状部20を2つの熱可塑性樹脂管の
対向する端部に嵌め合わせて、前記2つの熱可塑性樹脂
管12、14の端部を熱融着により接合した後、前記水
溶性樹脂筒状部20を水で溶解除去する熱可塑性樹脂管
の接合方法。
Description
熱融着接合補助材及び熱可塑性樹脂管の接合方法に関す
る。
管は、ガス管、上水道管、下水道管に用いられている。
ポリエチレン管は鋳鉄管や鋼管などの金属管に比べ、軽
量で施工し易く、耐食性に優れており、しかも可撓性が
あることから地震に強い特徴がある。熱可塑性樹脂管
は、輸送しやすくするために巻いたり、管を可送単位に
切断して積み重ねて、搬送、保管している。したがっ
て、熱可塑性樹脂管を敷設する際には、切断された熱可
塑性樹脂管を再接合する必要がある。熱可塑性樹脂管の
接合には、信頼性のある接着剤が存在しないので、熱融
着が主に用いられている。
は、主に、突合せ熱融着(Butt Fussion)と、エレクト
ロフュージョン(Electrofusion)継手とが知られてい
る。

加熱リング15を除去し、熱可塑性樹脂管12、14の
両端面12s、14sを押し付けて融着させることによ
り、二つの熱可塑性樹脂管12、14を接合する。する
と、図5に示すように、熱可塑性樹脂管12、14の接
合面13の径方向に沿って、内表面と、外表面との双方
にビード16、18、突起物のようなものが形成され
る。そこで、このビード16、18をカンナ等の切削器
具にて削り取る。
を用いる接合方法であり、EF継手内部に電熱線を組込
み、通電加熱して管と継手を同時に溶かして融着接合す
るものである。継手は、一般的には、接合面の回りを取
り囲み、これに伴って、電熱線も接合面の回りに配置さ
れる。また、パイプは偏平化することがある。この扁平
化したパイプを矯正し、接合面を正確に合わせるため
に、従来は金属製の接合クランプを使って、管の接合部
を締め付けて偏平を矯正し、接合面の位置決めを行って
いた。
管を用いる場合には、ポリエチレン管は120℃ぐらい
から変形する。一方、熱融着される際には、ポリエチレ
ン管は200℃ぐらいに加熱されるので、精密に温度制
御しなければポリエチレン管は変形してしまう。例え
ば、エレクトロフュージョン継手で加熱時間を長くした
場合には、ポリエチレン管が変形する場合があった。特
に、完全熱融着をしたい場合には、加熱時間を長くする
ことがあった。また、エレクトロフュージョン継手の発
熱体がニクロム線ではなく、ポリエチレンにカーボンを
入れた発熱体である場合(例えば、特開平11−218
286号公報参照)において、ポリエチレン管の全体が
加熱されると、ポリエチレン管の接続部は加熱によって
容易に変形する。また、完全熱融着したい場合に加熱時
間を長くすると、パイプが熱によって変形する。変形す
れば継手部分をパイプと共に切除、破棄して、再度、新
しい継手を使って初めから作業をやり直すことになる。
では、接合面の内表面のビードを切削するためには腕の
長い切削具を用いる必要があり、煩雑であった。また、
エレクトロフュージョンでは、狭い工事現場に金属製の
接合クランプを持ち込んで施工する工事は難工事であっ
た。熱可塑性樹脂管が容器やタンクの排出口、流入口と
接続する場合も接続面を固定するには治具を必要とし
た。
側に金属製又は熱可塑性樹脂製の筒状体を内側に嵌め込
んで固定することも検討した。しかし、金属製又は熱可
塑性樹脂製の筒状体は、熱可塑性樹脂管の接合後も、管
の内側に残り、内容物の流動性を妨げるので、使用に耐
えない。

着の際に内表面にビードが発生せず、エレクトロフュー
ジョンの際には、クランプを用いる必要がなく、かつ、
熱融着の際に熱可塑性樹脂管が変形し難い、新規な熱可
塑性樹脂管の熱融着接合補助材を提供することにある。

る。溶融成型ができる樹脂なので、所望の形状、一実施
態様では、筒状体に容易に成型することができる。溶融
成型には、押出成型、射出成型、ブロー成型、圧縮成型
が含まれる。また、水溶性樹脂が用いられているので、
2本の熱可塑性樹脂管を接合した後に、接合された熱可
塑性樹脂管の内部に水を充満させ、熱融着接合補助材を
水に浸すことにより、熱融着接合補助材を水に溶解さ
せ、そして、排水とともに熱融着接合補助材を除去する
ことができる。例えば、接合された熱可塑性樹脂管の内
部に水を1時間ほど充満させた後に、水を流すと、水で
ほぐれた熱融着接合補助材も流出除去できる。

げられる。水溶性樹脂は、例えば、オキシアルキレン基
を含有してもよいし、ビニルアルコール繰り返し単位を
含有していてもよい。

温度が240℃、結晶化温度が175℃、ガラス転移点
が60℃、210℃にて21.6N(2.2kgf)の
荷重で、メルトフローインデックスが、20g/10分
である。従って、溶融成型加工は、210〜240℃の
範囲で可能である。結晶化速度が非常に速いので、冷え
るとすぐに硬くなる。
は、引張り強度21.6N(2.2kgf)/mm2、曲
げ強度29.4N(3.0kgf)/mm2、ノッチ付
衝撃強度13.7N(1.4kgf)−mm/mmであ
り、水溶性は20℃ 1μ/1秒にて完全溶解する。
Mタイプ又はHタイプを用いるのが好ましい。Mタイプ
の溶融温度は150〜200℃であり、Hタイプの溶融
温度は170〜220℃である。例えば、銘柄UMR−
20Hは、融点が180℃、一定流動温度、即ち、荷重
2.16kgfでMFR(メルト・フロー・レート)が
10g/10mmとなる温度は210℃、分解開始温度
は280℃である。
管の内径に等しい筒状体であってもよいし、このような
筒状体の軸方向の中心に、径方向の外側で径方向にスリ
ーブ部が形成されていてもよい。後者は、エレクトロフ
ュージョンの際に好ましく用いられる。
若しくはフッ素樹脂又はこれらの共重合体からなる管が
好ましく用いられ、更に好ましくは、ポリオレフィン管
が用いられ、更になお好ましくは、ポリエチレン管が用
いられる。ポリエチレン管としては、例えば、商品名、
エスロハイパーPE(積水化学工業製)、三井配水用ポリ
エチレン管(三井化学製)等が用いられる。
パイプ(外径60mm、内径48.2mm)を、熱融着
接合補助材を用いて、突合せ熱融着した。まず、商品名
エコマティ(日本合成化学製)を220℃のモールト゛で
外径48.15mm、肉厚2.0mm、長さ110mm
に圧縮成型して、筒形状の熱融着接合補助材を得た。
補助材を挿入して嵌め合わせて、2本のパイプを固定し
た。2本のパイプの対向する端面の間隙に、半割りで開
閉型のリング状の電熱加熱板を押し当てて、対抗する端
面を210℃に加熱溶融してから、電熱加熱板を取り外
し、瞬時に2本のパイプを互いに押し当てて融着させ
た。
パイプ12、14の対向する端部に熱融着接合補助材2
0を挿入して嵌め合わせて、2本のパイプ12、14を
固定した。接合面の外表面に径方向に沿って、ビード1
6が形成された。

生していなかった。

トロフュージョンで接合した。クランプを使わずに、図
2に示すように、2本のパイプ12、14の対向する端
部に熱融着接合補助材20を挿入して嵌め合わせて、2
本のパイプを固定した。2本のパイプの接続部の外側に
エレクトロフュージョン継手22をセットして、通常の
マニュアルに従って接合した。即ち、融着前に管外面の
切削および継手内面を清掃した後、コントローラーに接
続した。次いで、通電により電熱線24を発熱させ、継
手内面及びパイプの外表面の樹脂を溶かした。そして、
溶けた樹脂はコールドゾーンで密封されて面圧が発生
し、パイプの外表面及び継手内面の樹脂が融着した。面
圧の発生によりインジケーターが隆起し、接合が完了し
た。

パイプを固定した。この状態では、二つの熱可塑性樹脂
管12、14の対向する端部12a、14aが筒状部3
2とスリーブ部34との間に挟まれている。エレクトロ
フュージョンは実施例2と同様に通電し、二つの熱可塑
性樹脂管12、14の対向する端部12a、14aを接
合した。

℃になるまで通電し、通電をON−OFFしてこの温度
範囲に保った。温度保持時間を 30秒(実施例4)、
40秒(実施例5)、60秒(実施例6)、の3点で実
施し融着、冷却後、実施例2と同じ操作で熱融着接合補
助材を水で膨潤、溶解、流出除去した。
継手とパイプを軸方向に半割にし、パイプ部分を上下か
らパイプの内側が接触するまで圧縮させて、継手とパイ
プが剥離するか否か確認する圧縮剥離試験をした。結果
を表1に示す。
ずパイプをクランプで固定した以外は実施例4〜6と同
じ操作で接合し、外観の確認、圧縮剥離試験をした。結
果を表1に示す。
助材は、溶融成型できる水溶性樹脂からなる筒状部を有
するので、熱可塑性樹脂管を接合するときに、クランプ
を使わなくても輸送、保管中に変形した熱可塑性樹脂管
を芯円に矯正し、接続面の位置決めを正確に行うことが
できる。本発明の熱可塑性樹脂管の熱融着接合補助材
は、突合せ融着の際に熱可塑性樹脂管が加熱溶融された
時の変形を防止し、ビードの発生を抑制することができ
る。
不要になった熱融着接合補助材を水に溶解させて除去す
ることができるので、接合された熱可塑性樹脂管の中を
流れる流体の流動を妨げる障害物を除去することができ
る。
合補助材は、熱融着の際に熱可塑性樹脂管が変形し難
い。特に、エレクトロフュージョン継手で加熱時間を長
くして完全熱融着する際に熱可塑性樹脂管が熱変形する
のを防止する。

- 【請求項1】 溶融成型できる水溶性樹脂からなる筒状
部を有することを特徴とする熱可塑性樹脂管の熱融着接
合補助材。 - 【請求項2】 熱可塑性樹脂管がポリオレフィン若しく
はフッ素樹脂又はこれらの共重合体からなる管である請
求項1に記載の熱可塑性樹脂管の熱融着接合補助材。 - 【請求項3】 筒状部の軸方向の中心には、径方向の外
側で径方向にスリーブ部が形成されていて、これによ
り、二つの熱可塑性樹脂管の対向する端部が筒状部とス
リーブ部との間に挟まれることが可能になる請求項1又
は2に記載の熱可塑性樹脂管の熱融着接合補助材。 - 【請求項4】 2つの熱可塑性樹脂管の対向する端部を
熱融着により接合する際に、接合部の内側に溶融成型で
きる水溶性樹脂からなる筒状部を2つの熱可塑性樹脂管
の対向する端部に嵌め合わせて、前記2つの熱可塑性樹
脂管の端部を熱融着により接合した後、前記水溶性樹脂
筒状部を水で溶解除去することを特徴とする熱可塑性樹
