Claims (1)
- 【特許請求の範囲】 1.電気化学的燃料電池であって、 (a)実質的に流体不透過性である1対の隔離板と、 (b)前記隔離板の間に挿置されている1対の流体分配層であって、前記流体 分配層の各々が2つの主平面表面を有し、前記流体分配層の少なくとも一方の層 が、シーリング領域と、導電性で流体透過性の活性領域とを備え、前記流体分配 層の前記少なくとも一方の層が、前記シーリング領域と前記活性領域の各々の中 に延びている予備成形シート材料を備える1対の流体分配層と、 (c)前記流体分配層の少なくとも一部分の間に挿置されているイオン交換膜 と、 (d)前記流体分配層の各々の少なくとも一部分と、前記イオン交換膜の少な くとも一部分との間に挿置されており、それによって前記活性領域を画定する、 一定量の電気触媒とを備え、 前記1対の隔離板を互いに向けて圧迫することによって前記予備成形シート 材料を圧縮することにより、前記少なくとも一方の流体分配層を、前記シーリン グ領域内で、前記主平面表面に対して平行な方向において実質的に流体不透過性 にするものである、 電気化学的燃料電池。 2.前記流体分配層の少なくとも一方の層が、前記1対の流体分配層の両方で ある請求項1に記載の電気化学的燃料電池。 3.前記膜が前記シーリング領域の少なくとも一部分の上に重なる請求項1に 記載の電気化学的燃料電池。 4.前記流体分配層の少なくとも一方の層が前記シーリング領域内では電気絶 縁性である請求項1に記載の電気化学的燃料電池。 5.前記予備成形シート材料がメッシュである請求項1に記載の 電気化学的燃料電池。 6.前記メッシュが導電性である請求項5に記載の電気化学的燃料電池。 7.前記メッシュが、少なくとも前記活性領域内に導電性充填材を含む請求項 6に記載の電気化学的燃料電池。 8.前記メッシュが本質的に金属から成る請求項6に記載の電気化学的燃料電 池。 9.前記金属が、ニッケル、ステンレス鋼、ニオブ、チタンから成るグループ から選択されている請求項8に記載の電気化学的燃料電池。 10.前記メッシュが電気絶縁体であり、前記メッシュが少なくとも前記活性 領域内に導電性充填材を含む請求項5に記載の電気化学的燃料電池。 11.前記メッシュが本質的にポリマー材料から成る請求項10に記載の電気 化学的燃料電池。 12.前記ポリマー材料が、ポリエチレン、ポリプロピレン、ポリテトラフル オロエチレンから成るグループから選択されている請求項11に記載の電気化学 的燃料電池。 13.前記予備成形シート材料が実質的に流体不透過性であるシート材料であ り、かつ、前記シート材料が前記活性領域内では流体透過性にされている請求項 1に記載の電気化学的燃料電池。 14.前記実質的に流体不透過性であるシート材料が、少なくとも前記活性領 域内において穿孔されている請求項13に記載の電気化学的燃料電池。 15.前記実質的に流体不透過性であるシート材料が導電性である請求項14 に記載の電気化学的燃料電池。 16.前記実質的に流体不透過性であるシート材料が黒鉛箔であ る請求項15に記載の電気化学的燃料電池。 17.前記流体分配層の少なくとも一方の層が、前記穿孔活性領域内の穿孔の 中に導電性充填材を備える請求項15に記載の電気化学的燃料電池。 18.前記実質的に流体不透過性であるシート材料が電気絶縁体であり、前記 流体分配層の少なくとも一方の層が、前記穿孔活性領域内の穿孔の中に導電性充 填材を備える請求項14に記載の電気化学的燃料電池。 19.前記実質的に流体不透過性であるシート材料が実質的にポリマー材料か ら成る請求項18に記載の電気化学的燃料電池。 20.前記流体分配層の少なくとも一方の層が、前記主平面表面の少なくとも 一方の表面内に形成され、流体反応体流を方向付けるための少なくとも1つの流 路を備えており、前記少なくとも1つの流路が前記活性領域を横断する請求項1 に記載の電気化学的燃料電池。 21.前記隔離板層の少なくとも一方の層が、その主表面上に形成され前記少 なくとも1個の流体分配層に面した少なくとも1個の流路を備え、これにより流 体の反応体流を前記層に接触するように方向付けるものである、請求項1に記載 の電気化学的燃料電池。 22.電気化学的燃料電池であって、 (a)実質的に流体不透過性である1対の隔離板と、 (b)前記隔離板の間に挿置されている1対の流体分配層であって、前記流体 分配層の各々が2つの主平面表面を有し、前記流体分配層の少なくとも一方の層 が、シーリング領域と、導電性で流体透過性の活性領域とを備え、前記流体分配 層の少なくとも一方の層が、前記活性領域と前記シーリング領域の各々の中に延 びている多孔性の電気絶縁性シート材料を備える、1対の流体分配層と、 (c)前記流体分配層の少なくとも一部分の間に挿置されているイオン交換膜 と、 (d)前記流体分配層の各々の少なくとも一部分と、前記イオン交換膜の少な くとも一部分との間に挿置されており、それによって前記活性領域を画定する、 一定量の電気触媒とを含み、 前記多孔性ポリマーシート材料が、前記活性領域内に導電性充填材を含み、か つ、前記シーリング領域内にシーリング充填材を含み、それによって前記シーリ ング領域内において前記流体分配層を実質的に流体不透過性にするものである、 電気化学的燃料電池。 23.前記多孔性電気絶縁性シート材料が実質的にポリマー材料から成る請求 項22に記載の電気化学的燃料電池。 24.前記ポリマー材料が微孔質である請求項23に記載の電気化学的燃料電 池。 25.前記ポリマー材料が、ポリエチレン、ポリプロピレン、ポリテトラフル オロエチレンから成るグループから選択されている請求項23に記載の電気化学 的燃料電池。 26.前記多孔性電気絶縁性シート材料がメッシュである請求項22に記載の 電気化学的燃料電池。 27.前記多孔性電気絶縁性シート材料がガラス繊維マットである請求項22 に記載の電気化学的燃料電池。 28.前記シーリング充填材が流し処理加工可能な材料である請求項22に記 載の電気化学的燃料電池。 29.前記流し処理加工可能な材料がエラストマーである請求項28に記載の 電気化学的燃料電池。 30.前記エラストマー性流し処理加工可能材料がシリコンゴムである請求項 29に記載の電気化学的燃料電池。
