Description
Claims (1)
- 【特許請求の範囲】 1. 第1および第2のリチウム含有インターカレーション活性物質を含有す る正極を含むリチウム電池であって、前記の第1のものはリチウム銅酸化物であ り、前記の第2のものは前記第1のものとは異なるものであるリチウム電池。 2. 請求項1の電池において、前記のリチウム銅酸化物は、銅酸化物1式ユ ニットあたり2リチウムイオンを含むことを特徴とする電池。 3. 請求項1の電池において、前記のリチウム銅酸化物は、名目上の一般式 Li2CuO2で表される化合物であることを特徴とする電池。 4. 請求項3の電池において、前記のリチウム銅酸化物は、ある量xのリチ ウムイオンの抽出と挿入が可能であり、名目上の一般式Li2-xCUO2で表され 、電池の(充放電)サイクル中に、x値が0≦x≦2で変化することを特徴とす る電池。 5. 請求項4の電池において、前記のx値は、0≦x≦1で変化することを 特徴とする電池。 6. 請求項1の電池において、前記のリチウム銅酸化物活性物質は、前記の 第1および第2の活性物質の総量の1/2未満の量だけ存在することを特徴とす る電池。 7. 請求項1の電池において、前記の第2の活性物質は、リチウム金属カル コケン化物であることを特徴とする電池。 8. 請求項1の電池において、前記の第2の活性物質は、リチウムマンガン 酸化物であることを特徴とする電池。 9. 請求項1の電池において、前記の第2の活性物質は、名目上の一般式L iMn2O4で表される化合物であることを特徴とする電池。 10. 請求項1の電池において、インターカレーション物質である活性物質を 含有する負極をさらに含むことを特徴とする電池。 11. 請求項10の電池において、前記の負極活性物質は、遷移金属酸化物、 金属カルコケン化物、炭素、グラファイト、および、その混合物からなる群から 選択されることを特徴とする電池。 12. リチウム金属カルコゲン化物活性物質の比容量を増加させる方法であっ て、 a. 前記のリチウム金属カルコゲン化物と、前記のリチウム金属カルコゲン 化物の電気化学的電位よりも小さな対リチウム電気化学的電位を有する第2のリ チウム含有物質を含む電極組成物を準備する工程と、 b. 前記の第2の物質からリチウムイオンを電気化学的に脱インターカレー ションする工程と、 c. 前記の脱インターカレーションされたリチウムイオンの少なくとも一部 を前記のリチウム金属カルコゲン化物に電気化学的にインターカレーションし、 前記電極組成物中の前記リチウム金属カルコゲン化物の前記比容量を増加させる 工程からなる方法。 13. 請求項12の方法は、工程(b)の後、工程(c)の前に、リチウム金 属カルコゲン化物からリチウムイオンを脱インターカレーションする工程をさら に含み、工程(c)は、リチウム金属カルコケン化物からのイオンをインターカ レーションすることをさらに含むことを特徴とする方法。 14. 請求項12の方法において、工程(b)は、前記の脱インターカレーシ ョンされたリチウムイオンを対向電極活性物質へと移行させることを含み、工程 (c)は、前記のリチウム金属カルコゲン化物へのインターカレーションのため に、前記リチウムイオンを前記の対向電極から脱離することを含むことを特徴と する方法。 15. 請求項12の方法において、前記の脱インターカレーションされたリチ ウムイオンの前記一部は、量zとして表され、前記の比容量増加は、可逆的であ り、前記の量zに比例することを特徴とする方法。 16. 請求項15の方法において、前記のリチウム金属カルコゲン化物中のリ チウムの量は、工程(a)における初期状態であるLia(aは約1)からLia +z (0<z≦1)へと増加することを特徴とする方法。 17. 請求項12の方法において、前記の第2の物質は、名目上の式Li2C uO2のリチウム銅酸化物であることを特徴とする方法。 18. 電気化学リチウムセルを動作する方法であって、 a. LiMn2O4スピネル活性物質と第2のリチウム含有物質を含む電極組 成物を準備する工程と、 b. 前記の第2の物質からリチウムイオンを電気化学的に脱インターカレー ションする工程と、 c. 前記の脱インターカレーションされたリチウムイオンの少なくとも一部 を前記のスピネルに電気化学的にインターカレーションする工程からなる方法。 19. 請求項18の方法は、工程(b)の後、工程(c)の前に 、前記のスピネルからリチウムイオンを脱インターカレーションする工程をさら に含み、工程(c)は、前記のスピネルからのイオンをインターカレーションす ることをさらに含むことを特徴とする方法。 20. 請求項18の方法において、工程(b)は、前記の脱インターカレーシ ョンされたリチウムイオンを対向電極活性物質へと移行させることを含み、工程 (c)は、前記のスピネルへのインターカレーションのために、前記リチウムイ オンを前記の対向電極から脱離することを含むことを特徴とする方法。 21. 請求項18の方法において、工程(c)を行うことによって、前記のス ピネル中のリチウム量を名目上の一般式Li1Mn2O4からLi1+zMn2O4(z は0よりも大きく、約1まで)へと増加させることを特徴とする方法。 22. 第1および第2のリチウム含有活性物質を含む正極であって、前記の第 1の活性物質は、前記の第2の活性物質の電気化学的電位よりも小さな対リチウ ム電気化学的電位を有し、さらに、前記の第1の活性物質は、前記の第2の活性 物質よりも高い比容量、mA時間/gを有することを特徴とする正極。 23. 請求項22の正極において、前記の第1の活性物質は、前記の第2の活 性物質よりもリチウムの重量比率が大きいことを特徴とする正極。 24. 請求項22の正極において、前記の第1および第2の活性物質はそれそ れ空気に対して安定であることを特徴とする正極。 25. 請求項22の正極において、前記の第1の活性物質は、前記の第2の活 性物質がリチウムイオンを放出する電圧よりも低い対 リチウム電圧で、リチウムイオンの放出が可能であることを特徴とする正極。 26. 請求項22の正極において、前記の第1の活性物質は、リチウム銅酸化 物であり、前記の第2の活性物質は、第1の活性物質とは異なるものであること を特徴とする正極。 27. 請求項26の正極において、前記の第2の活性物質の重量は、前記のリ チウム銅酸化物の量よりも大きいことを特徴とする正極。 28. 請求項27の正極において、前記の第2の活性物質は、リチウムマンガ ン酸化物であることを特徴とする正極。 29. 請求項28の正極において、前記のリチウム銅酸化物は、名目上の一般 式Li2CuO2で表され、前記のリチウムマンガン酸化物は名目上の一般式Li Mn2O4で表されることを特徴とする正極。 30. 請求項29の正極において、リチウムイオンの脱インターカレーション とインターカレーション時に、前記のリチウム銅酸化物は、名目上の一般式Li2-x CuO2(0≦x≦2)で表されることを特徴とする正極。 31. 請求項29の正極において、リチウムイオンの脱インターカレーション とインターカレーション時に、前記のリチウムマンガン酸化物は、名目上の一般 式Liy-zMn2O4(0≦y≦2、0≦z≦y)で表されることを特徴とする正 極。
