Abstract

Il trapano di anima e il trapano di mantello del dispositivo vengono messi in contatto con un materiale duro ma fragile quale una lastra di vetro e fatti ruotare per tagliare e molare il materiale in modo da ritagliare un substrato a forma di ciambella, quindi, senza cambiare stato, il substrato e il dispositivo sono spostati relativamente in modo che il substrato possa essere alloggiato nel dispositivo e la parte circonferenziale interna e la parte periferica esterna del substrato sono messe in contatto con ciascuna delle cavità anulari formate rispettivamente nell'asta di anima e nel mantello. Così la parte circonferenziale interna e la parte periferica esterna del substrato sono levigate e pertanto con una sola operazione consecutiva da un lato si può ottenere il taglio della lastra di vetro e la molatura e rifinitura della stessa per fabbricare un substrato a forma di ciambella.
