Abstract

Un acciaio al bordo composto per lo 0,18-0,35% da C, 0,06-0,15% da Si, 0,50-1.00 da Mn, 0,40-0,90% da Cr, 0,01-0,05% da Al, 0,01-0,04% da Ti, per non più dello 0,012% da N, non più dello 0,003% da O, per lo 0,0005-0,0030% da B, e per il resto da Fe ed impurità inevitabili nella produzione dell'acciaio, tutte le percentuali essendo in base al peso dell'acciaio. Il rapporto fra Ti e N è compreso fra 3,4 e 6,0. Il perfezionamento dell'acciaio al boro risiede nella riduzione della deformazione sotto trattamento termico, dell'ossidazione superficiale durante la carbocementazione e dei costi materiali, ed inoltre esso è dotato di temprabilità, resistenza meccanica e resistenza alla fatica in grado superiore.
