Abstract

1508231 Submersible painting vehicle JOTUNGRUPPEN A/S 14 Jan 1976 [15 Jan 1975] 1847/75 Heading B2L Submersible remotely-controlled vehicle for painting the underwater surfaces of a ship's hull comprises a hollow housing 1 [the underneath of which is shown in Fig. 2] provided with an impeller 3 to maintain a reduced pressure therewithin so as to adhere the vehicle to the hull, and having a driven steerable wheel 4 and two driven support wheels 5, 6, the rear part of the vehicle being provided with two parallel rows of detachable rotatable brushes 15 each supplied with paint from a line connected to the surface. As shown in Fig. 4 each brush 15 is rotably driven by a hydraulic motor 18 through which the paint is supplied via line 22 from a common manifold 21. The brushes are supported by pairs of leaf springs 23, 24 connected at 25, 26 to the vehicle body, a coil spring 29 being provided to maintain constant the brush pressure. The brushes may be raised by an hydraulic ram 31 pivotally attached to motors 18 which are supported by lever 33 pivotally attached to the vehicle body at 35. [GB1508231A]
