Abstract
924,384. Sweeping machines. G. BELOTTI, and V. BELOTTI, [trading as BELOTTI INDUSTRIA AUTOGRU - ALTRE MACCHINE]. July 16, 1959 [July 16, 1958], No. 24514/59. Class 107. In a power-operated suction sweeper, the suction head is suspended from a power-driven vehicle and comprises in plan a leading section 1 of rectangular shape and a rear section having the shape of an isoceles triangle. The side edges of the leading section and the rearwardly-extending sides of the triangular section are provided with downwardly-projecting fixed brushes 7, 70 and a rotary brush 8 is mounted at the triangle base. The head is supported from the vehicle 5 by two drawbars 107 attached by arms 206 to a transverse shaft 105 which can be rotated to raise or lower the head by an hydraulic piston 100. The rotary brush is driven by motor 89 via pulleys 90 and 92 and is urged into contact with the ground by a spring 88. The front of the head is adjustably and resiliently supported by a castor wheel 6 connected via a vertical swivel pivot 62 to the hinged lugs 64 on the head, additionally a cross-bar on the wheel support fork 63 is secured to the head by a screwthreaded bolt and resilient block. A baffle plate (not shown) within the head extends rearwardly from near the periphery of the rotating brush to a point beyond the apex formed by the triangular section where the head is provided with a tubular section 2 connected by a flange 3 to suction apparatus within the vehicle.
