Abstract

1422940 Stitched paper sheet SCOTT & FYFE Ltd 8 Jan 1973 [19 Jan 1972] 2604/72 Heading D1R A non-woven sheet rendered longitudinally stretchable by transverse crimps (corrugations) is reinforced by longitudinal stitches. The sheet is preferably crepe paper. The transverse crimps may be at 90‹ to the longitudinal axis, alternatively the sheet may be cross-creped. A sewing-knitting machine may be used to introduce chain stitching or tricot stitching. The longitudinal stitches may hold in place weft threads running transversely on the face to which the stitches are applied or on the opposite face. The yarn may be 250 denier nylon with 5 or 10 longitudinal threads/inch and 10 weft threads/inch. A coating of acrylic resin may be applied to the longitudinal threads or to both the longitudinal and weft threads. The product may be laminated to a layer of foamed synthetic rubber or coated with bitumen. [GB1422940A]
