Abstract

949,596. Laminates. BRITISH QUILTING CO. Ltd. July 9, 1962 [Aug. 9, 1961], No. 28707/61. Heading B5N. [Also in Division A4] The heat insulation and softness of a quilted fabric, as disclosed in Specification 929,706, are increased so that the fabric is more suitable for use as a blanket, by including a mat 15 of textile fibres with the foamed plastic wadding between knitted or woven facings 11, 12. The mat is preferably of polyethylene terephthalate or other synthetic fibres and is enclosed between layers 13, 14 of foamed polyurethane and outer facings of brushed nylon, the layers being quilted by stitching at 16. In a modification a single layer of foam is used, the fibrous mat being bonded thereto.
