A cold-weather garment comprises an outer layer of knitted fabric, a layer of porous extrusible foam material, and two plain-knitted weft fabric layers on the inside, the two weftknitted layers being held together by spaced interlocked stitches, and the four layers being held together, e.g. by quilting or by welding by the application of heat, in such a manner as to maintain porosity. The outer layer is preferably of nylon or a polymer of acrylonitrile, and is preferably a warp-knitted fabric known as tricot. The inner weft-knitted fabric may be cotton and the outer wool or wool blend. The foam material may be foam rubber or polyurethane foam material. Specification 21016/02 is referred to.
