Abstract

1,263,566. Electro-graphic developing apparatus. RANK XEROX Ltd. April 1, 1969 [April 22, 1968], No.16990/69. Heading G2H. A magnetic roll 57 picks up a coating of developer from a trough 51; the coating being trimmed at 71, charged at 73, smoothed at 75 and then thrown into contact with an image bearing drum (12) Fig.4 (not shown) by oscillating ribbons 80. Ribbons 80 are oscillated by means of a magnet 85 rotating within roll 57. Roll 57 comprises ring magnets 59 spaced by ring insulators 61 and has a non- magnetic cover 65. The developer comprises electro-scopic resinous pigment particles attached to magnetic particles. The magnetic particles may be Fe or its alloys or oxides, Co or its alloys, or magnetic alloys of Al, Ag, Cu, Mg, Mn. A method of coating the magnetic particles with the resin is described comprising crushing, mixing, cooling and dividing. [GB1263566A]
