Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain image of excellent continuous tone, without effects of humidity in developing operation, by using developer of which main ingredient is insulating magnetic toner alone in a developing unit utilizing magnet.
CONSTITUTION: A ferro-magnetic and insulating toner 2 containing thermoplastic resin, fine granular ferro-magnetic body, coloring agent, and, if necessary, charge control agent is supplied into a toner supply device 3 from a toner container 1. In the device 3, on the otuer circumference of a rotary cylindrical permanent magnet 5 having different magnetic poles disposed alternately, the toner 2 rotating in the reverse direction of the magnet 5 and defined by a defining plate 6 on a brass sleeve 4 having a thin film of resin of about 1μ formed on the surface thereof is carried in the direction of the arrow to develop an electrostatic latent image formed on a photosensitive layer 7 on a conductive substrate 8, and the toner image is excellently transferred electrostatically on a substrate such as ordinary paper. Thus, the structure of the apparatus used may be simple, and the developing efficiency is high.
