Abstract

1,205,044. Load handling devices on vehicles. HARRISON, McGREGOR & GUEST Ltd. 29 Oct., 1968 [2 Nov., 1967], No. 49870/67. A vehicle-mountable device having a loadhandling tool, e.g. a scoop 42. a grab or a manure fork, pivotable by a ram 47 about one end of a dipper stick 40 pivoted at 41 on a boom 33 is so designed that the parts of the device may be disposed in one or the other of two operating arrangements in order that the doubleacting hydraulic powered jacks 37, 45 associated with the boom 33 and dipper stick 40 for controlling movement thereof when the device is mounted on a vehicle will both be located either above or below the boom. Thus the device can have maximum operating efficiency when removing material from either well below to just above the ground surface supporting the vehicle or from adjacent said surface to well above the surface. The device can be as shown for removing material from well below said surface or the connections of the boom 33 and the jack 37 with the king post 20 of the device may be changed over with resultant inversion of the boom about its longitudinal axis when the jack 47 is disconnected from the dipper stick and the dipper stick disconnected from the boom. On reconnection of the dipper stick to the boom the jack 45 is now connected at 43 to the dipper stick, the device then being for removing material from adjacent the ground surface to well above said surface.
