Abstract

1313900 Shovelling machine EATON CORP 13 July 1970 [11 July 1969] 33844/70 Heading E1F [Also in Division F2] A vehicle-mounted load-handling apparatus includes a main arm pivotally connected to the vehicle and pivotally supporting a lift arm which pivotally supports a bucket, and power actuator means pivotally connected between the vehicle and the two arms and between the lift arm and the bucket. As shown, Fig. 2, the apparatus comprises lift arm 26 pivotally connected to an articulated vehicle about an axis concentric with the axis 32 of the vehicle's front wheels. The main arm pivotally supports lift arm 34 at 82, and the lift arm pivotally supports bucket 22 at 148. The bucket is crowded by the extension of two hydraulic jacks 68 to pivot arm 26 forward until jack pivots 78 lie in, and pivot 82 lies forward of, a vertical plane containing axis 32. Bucket 22 is pivoted to a transport position by retraction of two hydraulic jacks 88 which are connected to the bucket by link 140, which pass through an aperture in lift arm 34 and which are pivotally connected at 94 to extension 96 of arm 34. The bucket is raised by the extension of two hydraulic jacks 122 pivotally connected to arm 34 and to the vehicle below axis 32. Pivots 94, Fig. 4 pass through the vertical plane containing axis 32 while the bucket is being raised, and the bucket is maintained upright by a jack-actuating circuit including a gravity switch responsive to bucket tilt. The bucket is dumped by extension of jacks 88, the pivots 112 of jacks 88 passing over bucket pivot 148.
