Abstract

A digging attachment for a tractor (not shown) comprises fork arms 15 adapted for adjustable connection to the existing pivotal boom structure 2 of the tractor, which arms carry a bucket 16 on hinges 17 which has a lever arm structure 28 formed by two spaced plates to which the piston of a double-acting hydraulic ram 29 is connected so that the bucket is tiltable between a digging or discharge attitude with its mouth facing substantially downwardly and a lifting attitude wherein it is substantially horizontally facing. The digger attachment is rigidly secured to the existing boom structure when in use both by an adjustable bracing means 21 formed between an upright 20 on each end of a cross member 14 of the attachment and triangular plates 11 on a transverse member 9 of the boom, and also by a hinge connection 19 between spaced parallel plates 18 of the attachment and the existing lugs 10 of the boom. The bracing means 21 comprises two telescopic members 24, 25 held in any desired position by a locking pin 26 through co-operating holes 27. The bucket may face towards or away from the tractor in the digging position. A digger blade edge 41 borders the lower side of the mouth of the bucket and lateral digger means 47 may be fixed to the sides 33 of the bucket, which may also be strengthened. The bucket is tiltable through only about 90 degrees and tilts from the digging to lifting attitude whilst the digging edge contacts the ground.
