Abstract

999,835. Cartons. R. C. WALMSEY Ltd. April 24, 1964 [April 26, 1963], No. 16607/63. Heading B8P. A carton has on its longer sides 11, 12 extension panels 15, 16 folded against the inside of sides 11, 12, having flaps 15a, 16a which are cut from the panels on two sides and folded about lines 15d, 16d so that when the tray has been erected the flaps lie across the tray as stiffeners. In another embodiment, Fig. 4 (not shown), the flaps have a tongue and a recess respectively and provide a stiffening wall of single thickness. In a further embodiment, Fig. 5 (not shown), the flaps have a slit and a tongue respectively, and the stiffener is erected prior to the erection of one or both of the end walls 13, 14 which, in all cases, have end flaps 17, 18 having tongue and slot connections with the base. In a carton having longitudinal partitions the stiffener flaps may extend from a side wall to a partition.
