Abstract

998,516. Band clips. DRESSER INDUSTRIES INC. Oct. 29, 1962 [Oct. 30, 1961], No. 40781/62. Heading E2B. [Also in Division F2] A water service saddle has a control conduit 14 comprising a base 13 and lateral portions, a pair of metallic pipe encircling straps 20, 21, guide means 16, 17 on the lateral portions for positioning the straps, and a lug assembly L common to both straps for tightening the straps about the pipe. The tightening means L comprises two members 22, 23 each with a base 24 shaped at each of its ends to engage the curved surface of the pipe and to provide a profile for the ends of the straps 20, 21 to be wrapped round it. The straps have openings into which projectors 29, Fig. 2, enter. The tightening is done by a bolt B which passes between webs 33, 34 on the members 23 and has a squared portion 38, which engages the inside faces of the webs and holds the bolt against rotation, and has a head 37 that is engaged and retained in position by overhanging tabs 35. The bolt also passes through an opening 32 in an ear 31 on the member 22, where it is held down by a nut 40. In a modification, instead of the projectors 29, each base 24 has a pair of recesses 42, Fig. 9, and a tang or tab 44 is struck from each strap and hooked round an edge 43 of the recess.
