Abstract

957,387. Pipe joints. ANTHES IMPERIAL Ltd. May 2, 1962, No. 16785/62. Heading F2G. Cast iron pipes 10, 11, Fig. 2, are buttjointed by means of a clamping band 12 formed with corrugations 15 and provided with two tightening straps 17 having screw-type tightening units 18, a resilient packing member 13 being located within the band 12. The packing member 13, Fig. 3, has an annular ridge 14 to prevent actual contact between the pipe ends and scaling rings 22 for engaging the pipes. As an alternative to the sealing rings, the band 12 could be provided with similarly shaped annular indentations.
