Abstract

1,166,855. Joint-making packing; pipe joints. BTR INDUSTRIES Ltd. 18 May, 1967 [26 May, 1966], No. 23694/66. Headings F2B and F2G. A U-section jointing ring of resilient material is formed at the free ends of the arms 11 of the U with axially outwardly extending sealing projections. 13 and has adjacent its base axially extending ribs 12 which, in use, limit the amount of compression of the arms 11 towards one another. In a pipe coupling, Fig. 2, the ring is housed in a recess 22 in one, 16, of the pipe, and clamped between a face 19 on the other pipe 15 and the opposed face of the recess. The ring may be of stainless steel.
