996,833. Hopper and plunger moulding machines. STRAMIT BOARDS Ltd. July 1, 1963 [May 10, 1963], No. 26030/63. Heading B5A. A hopper and plunger open mould machine for producing board from fibrous material such as straw comprises a hopper 6 from which a rake 13 feeds material into the path of a reciprocating ram 7 which compresses the material within a channel 4. The ram is reciprocated by a crank mechanism and the rake 13 is moved through an oval orbital path by a sprocket drive mechanism including chain 19, eccentric sprocket 23, sprocket 22 and eccentric or elliptical idler sprocket 27. The sprocket 27 being carried by one arm 18a of a bell-crank to the other arm of which is connected to the rake.
